Special pricing of $1,175 on a week in late August/early September (save $75) week) on lovely, over-sized Summer Wind cottage with NEW kitchen has been completely updated, is beautifully decorated with a Low Country/beach theme, and is spotless. Located in a private cul de sac overlooking the golf course, the cottage is a short 1/3 mile walk to the beach, as well as the Seabrook Island Club. FREE Wireless Internet, Cleaning, Amenity Cards, Gas Grill, and Linens.
This DELUXE home differs from neighboring villas due to its enclosed porch, which provides almost 300 square feet of additional heated/cooled living space. Relax there with your morning coffee or sip a glass of wine before dinner and enjoy scenic views of the golf course through the canopy of live oak trees. You are apt to see deer or other wildlife at dusk too. It is likely you will find yourself spending most of your time in this tiled sunroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, since it has both a sitting area featuring a large, flat-screen television, as well as a eating area. If you prefer, use the comfortable heart of the home, a spacious combined living room/dining room area with fireplace, a second LED flat-screen TV, DVD player, and Stereo/CD Player.
The sunny master bedroom, featuring Tommy Bahama furniture with a king bed, has French doors leading to the sunroom and is connected to a renovated private bath with a skylight. Double doors on the other side of the living area provide privacy for the two additional bedrooms and remodeled second bath (with skylight), all of which are connected by a small hall. The second bedroom, furnished with a Tommy Bahama queen-sized bed and credenza/dresser, has sliding doors opening onto the deck, which also overlooks the golf course. The cute third bedroom has two twin beds and is particularly cozy for children.
The totally renovated kitchen was completed in early November and features new stainless appliances, gas stove with convection oven, granite countertops and travertine stone backsplash. It is well-equipped with cooking equipment and the refrigerator has a filtered water and ice dispenser on door. Bet you'll appreciate the separate laundry room with a full-sized washer and dryer,. A tankless hot water heater was installed 12/11.
The cottage has been updated with hardwood floors in the main living area and master bedroom, a Travertine stone fireplace surround, new carpeting in the two additional bedrooms, plantation shutters, recessed lighting, fans in each bedroom and the sunroom, quality artwork and Low Country/beach decorating touches, and is immaculately clean. Because the ground floor of the cottage is decked and has an enclosed storage area, there is plenty of space to stow your gear--beach chairs, bikes, and fishing/crabbing equipment--or for children to play. There also is covered parking for two cars.
The rental fee INCLUDES an amenity card, which enables you to use all the amenities of the Seabrook Island Club: seaside pools, outdoor dining at the Beach Club overlooking the ocean, two indoor restaurants, two 18-hole golf courses, a 15+ court tennis facility, and an equestrian center offering rides for all levels. With the same card, you may also access the fabulous new community Lake House facility with a large outdoor pool, basketball court, and playground. A well-equipped fitness center, heated indoor pool, and many, varied exercise classes are also available for a reasonable daily or week fee.
The cottage offers wireless internet and is equipped with an outdoor gas grill. All linens are provided with the exception of beach towels, which are offered free of charge at the Club's pools in the summer. End-of-stay cleaning is also included at no additional cost.
A rental guest may bring one small-sized dog, subject to certain conditions and an additional fee.

After a 32-year career as a commercial lender, my retirement in 2011 has enabled me to spend much more time at the cottage--and I've loved it! My home contains photos of my first retriever, Dixie (pictured), as well as my current golden, Amie, 2 1/2, who is still in the late stages of being a puppy. Just like Dixie, Amie adores running and swimming at the beach. A long beach walk, during which we always sight dolphins at low tide, is a favorite part of most days.
My deceased husband and I immediately fell in love with the natural beauty of Seabrook when we were invited to visit our friends' Summer Wind villa for the first time in 1994.. After spending numerous subsequent vacations in their home, we purchased our own cottage--next door!
I particularly love the combination of beach, nature, many options for sports activities, and the proximity to Charleston that Seabrook provides in a uniquely private setting.
On a typical day I will walk 3 1/2 miles on the nearby beach and, from mid-March to mid-October, spend the late afternoon at the Club's surf-side pool relaxing while watching the dolphins swim by and the shrimp boats return from a day at sea. On other days, I'll play golf or tennis, ride my bike for a loop around the island, and/or work out in the new fitness center. I love to be active, and there are so many options.
It is an easy trip to Charleston to go shopping, go to a cultural event, or enjoy dinner at one of the many delicious restaurants. On the other hand, there are several delightful places to eat just off the Island which offer fantastic Low Country dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. If you prefer to eat at home, nearby Freshfields Village includes an upscale grocery store.
The Island's facilities are first class in every way, following the 2010 completion of several new buildings (at a cost of $31 million!).
It is important to note that the residents of Seabrook are dedicated to maintaining the environment, wildlife, and natural beauty of the Island, all of which are part of what makes Seabrook so extraordinarily special.
Since retirement has permitted me to live at the cottage 5-6 months a year, I am even more dedicated to maintaining my home in excellent condition, as well as updating it each year. I hope you will appreciate the quality improvements, as well as the Low Country touches incorporated into the villa's decor.
