Photos and Description of the SoHo vacation apartment rental
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 3

Fantastic location in the heart of SoHo less than one block to the A,C,E subway station at Spring and short walk to the 6. A few short stops to World Trade Ctr site, Battery Park, harbor, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty cruises. Easy access to theater district, Central Park, restaurants, clubs, fun! Walk to the Village, Tribecca, photo district. It is all within a short walk or subway ride. Closest airport is Newark but Kennedy and La Guardia are not much further. On a tight budget? Take the A from Kennedy!

One 'heads-up': I would feel terrible if I did not mention that, because the apartment is in a great location, above restaurants, it can be noisy in the living room. The bedroom is pretty quiet but, especially if you are not from a big, loud city, be prepared that it can be noisy. It is not horrible but, it is NEW YORK CITY. If you or a colleague is planning to sleep on the fold out sofa, bring earplugs or sleep with an iPod. I sleep out there fine without either but, I must say, I sleep BETTER with earplugs! Really, I hope this does not scare you off but, I want to be honest!

The location of the apartment is amazing! Very easy walking distance to Soho, the Village and Little Italy. We could have spent the whole trip just exploring all the little shops and restaurants in the immediate area. There's a delicious bakery downstairs that has excellent coffee and the most delicious croissants, and the smells of yummy baking wafts into the stairwell. There are lots of bars and nightlife in easy walking distance. In any event, the subway is 1/2 a block away, so it's easy to get anywhere in Manhattan quickly.

The apartment is is in an older building, so someone looking for a modern aesthetic will not be happy here. The floors are a little uneven, which takes a little getting used to but won't affect your enjoyment of the apartment. The bed is new and the sheets are crisp and clean. The living room has ample space for sitting around (and storing all the fabulous things you bring home from neighborhood shops). For the price, you won't find a better location or a cleaner bed.

The owner was super helpful with any small issue that arose. Thanks Scott for making our stay such a pleasure!
Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! SO glad things worked out!!

Character and Location

I stayed here for a week back in December of last year. The apartment is certainly cozy, but by no means did I feel 'cramped' at any point. There were little things about the apartment that gave it a lot of character - namely the decorated wall in the front room and the expansive CD collection. It is situated in one of the best parts of SoHo - and it was the location that really made the experience for me. Additionally, the apartment was very well-maintained (perhaps with the exception of the couch in the front room). Furthermore, Scott was easily contactable and provided great customer service via e-mail for the duration of our stay.

While there were a few minor hiccups (in regard to the internet and the apartment block's front door), I'm sure these problems would have been rectified by now. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend this listing to others.

Good budget-option in great location!

We had a really good week in this very convenient apartment in Soho. The location is superb! Just by the metro (going to midtown, uptown and downtown very easily) and in walking distance to Little Italy, Greenwich village and Chinatown. Several nice restaurants in the area, and close to Soho shopping, wining and dining. Very nice!

The apartment itself is basic - but clean and of good size. For the price we paid, we thought it was a good deal. Yes, there are some quirks and it is no Waldorf Astoria, but it was good for our needs and budget. A good base to see New York!

Only a few negatives; we had some problems with the keys at arrival. Apparantly they had been changed or something. Good tip: make sure you as for the owners mobile number before you go. Would have made it easier for us. That said, we found the owner to be very friendly, helpful and it was easy to organise everything by e-mail. Also; found the arrangement slightly odd having to be concerned with what to tell the neighbours if asked - it was a slight worry during our stay. Lastly, we had to buy toilet paper as there was only half a roll for a weeks stay, and the couch in the living room has seen better days. No problem, but puts down the overall impression.

All in all; would recommend it to friends on tight budget because of the great location and price.

This is the second time that I've been in this nice and cozy apartment. By the way I've been there during hurrican Irene ... a perfect place when you don't have public transport and only can walk to know better the area, close to little italy, Chinatown, Tribeca and West Village. If you are looking a place just to rest after all day shopping is perfect, all around you can find all the brands.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review. I want you to know, a new sofa is on the way. I just learned the sofa has suddenly (and I truly mean SUDDENLY) made a turn for the worse! I guess it hit its planned obsolescence! So glad you had a great trip!

Nice

Nice apartment for two people. Small, but still with bedroom, living room, dining room/office, kitchen and bathroom. Clean, with everything you need (and more:-)
Very well located, on Spring Street in chic Soho ("a fashionista's playground"). Lots of restaurants, cafe's and bars in the neighbourhood. More or less on walking distance are NoLiTa, Lower East Side, Chinatown, TribeCa, West Village, Greenwich Village, East Village. Nearly all other interesting parts of the town can directly be reached via subway stations on or near Spring Street (A, C and E one block away, 6 on corner Lafayette, 1, 2 and 3 on corner Houston/Varick, J on corner Prince/Bowery).
Recommended.

Very nice appartment in the middle of an area with many restaurants and shops. We were a family of three, and the appartement was big enough for us, Being in NY, we spend most of our time out of the appartement, but it provided a nice environment when our feet where too tired! The owner is relaxed and easy to communicate with.

SoHo is an authentic, amazing NYC experience

5 of 5
Submitted: October 12, 2010 Stayed: October 2010
If you want to spend tons of money and have the Disney version of a NYC trip, bring your fanny pack and stay near Times Square. If you want the real NYC, with history, architecture, shopping, amazing restaurants, nightlife and the real rhythm of the street, SoHo is the place to be.

This is a cozy (but not uncomfortably so for two people) apartment in the heart of it all, and one short block from the Spring Street subway stop that will take you anywhere you need to be (5 minutes to Wall Street, 10 minutes to Times Square, 15 minutes to Central Park).

It is clean and well-maintained, and the owner was always just a phone call or email away with any questions. The TV is small, but who has time for TV with the City that Never Sleeps just outside? Best of all, here you'll pay half or one-third of your average Manhattan hotel room, and be headquartered in a much better part of the city.

If you're a movie buff, celebrity sightings are common in the neighborhood, and the apartment is above a restaurant where a scene in "Ghost" was filmed, a short block from a location for "Men In Black II" and in the neighborhood where "Unfaithful" took place.

We will be back.
