Me and my new wife came up here for our honeymoon. It was definitely a great choice. We feel like we are right at home in this cozy cabin. The views are amazing from the front and back porch which both have swings on them. We go out almost everyday and enjoy all the attractions of the area and return in the evenings to relax by the fireplace and in the hot tub. We don't leave till tomorrow and we are already thinking about booking another trip to this cabin. Absolutely love this beautiful cabin John and Beverly have made available for us to enjoy.

What a relaxing four days!! We loved the view, hot tub, bird-watching on the back porch and the seclusion. Our dogs loved the porches and the yard to run around in. The kitchen was very well-stocked, beds were super comfy and we had every possible amenity..including a bottle of wine when we arrived. I definitely recommend this cabin for a relaxing getaway...you can do nothing or make the 45 minute drive into wonderful Boone or Blowing Rock for shopping and great dining.

Perfection

We always vacation after the holidays for a bit of R&R and we were hoping that was what we would get when we chose Graywolf and that is just what we got. It was a "home away from home". We loved the porch and views from inside and outside, the fireplace, the jacuzzi. It was peaceful. After a couple of days resting then off to be a tourist, Grandfather Mountain, Linnville Caverns, Mast General Store, Hawknest for snow tubing. Horseback riding right at the bottom of our mountain. Perfection! If you are looking for a place to restore the soul, this is the place!

We had a great stay at the Graywolf cabin seeing the sunset and sunrise over the grandfather mountain from our porch. The hot tub was amazing on a cool fall night where you could see the stars above you. They were nice enough to provide all supplies need from cooking utensils, to towels and anything needed which made this stay very comfortable and showed alot of hospitality. I would love to visit again sometime.

John and Beverly,

What a wonderful weekend we had at Graywolf Cabin. It was just what we needed after recently having surgery and mom passing away 3 weeks ago. It was more than what we had anticipated. The views were breath taking along with the sunrises and sunsets from the front and back porch. It was so peaceful sitting on the porch watching the humming birds and wildlife. The hot tub was relaxing with great view also. The Cabin was great and was furnished with everything we needed. We used the grill every night. The décor was so pleasant and welcoming, it felt like home. We can’t wait to plan another trip back to Graywolf in the near future. This is the best kept secret in NC. Thanks John and Beverly for allowing us to share your beautiful mountain home.

My husband and I stayed at Graywolf for 3 amazing days last fall. The cabin is gorgeous, the pictures don't even begin to do it justice. And yes, the views really ARE that beautiful. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you may need, the cabin is clean, beds are comfy. The huge porch is a perfect place for an early morning cup of coffee or to BBQ in the evening and watch the sunset. The hot tub is nice and relaxing, especially on chilly nights. The owners clearly take pride in this property and it shows. We will definitely be coming back soon, working on planning a trip in the next few months. We would DEFINITELY recommend Graywolf cabin.

Our stay at GrayWolf

My husband and I visted GrayWolf for our anniversary and his birthday. We go on vacation every year alone at this time. Staying at GrayWolf cabin was like having our own slice of heaven. The views were magnificent and we had all the comforts of home. We loved feeding and watching the many birds and hummingbirds that visited us. We even enjoyed watching the squirrels stealing the bird food. John and Beverly make sure you have an enjoyable vacation in their home and even called to make sure we arrived okay. I would recommend everyone visiting GrayWolf as it is a beaufiful and relaxing place. If you are like us, you just will not want to ever leave. We will be returning. If you go, make sure you visit Fort Defiance and Wipperwill Academy which are close by and really educational and fun. We ate in Lenoir which has many fine places to eat. Blowing Rock and Boone are not far away and we visited many places but we were happy to get back to the house in the evening and relax in the hot tub under the trees. Thank you for the lovely visit to your home, John and Beverly!

We choose this cabin after looking at probably a hundread cabins between NC and TN mountains. We chose this one due to location, convenience to restaurant/outdoor activities and the breathtaking views. Our dilemma was to accomodate a handicap father with limited mobility, overworked mother who wants to relax, 5 yr son who needs frequent activites, and me and my husband who loves to do all of it. We all wanted to spend time together but be able get away and do other activites separately as well. In the mornings, we all spent breakfast together and talked about our daily plans. Watched the sunrise and relaxed in the jacuzzi. After lunch, my 5 yr old went to the pool while my parents stayed at the cabin to relax. Around lunch, we all went our separate ways or we all stayed together and took a short trip to Boone or Blowing Rock. By the evening, we all would meet back relax and cook a 5 star meal...mmmm...my husband grilled out marinated bbq pork chops one night while we listened to the nearby thunderstorm roar. Soo relaxing... We all gathered around the candle light dinner table and talked about our activites that day. After dinner, we talked about how good dinner was and sat on the front porch to watch the colorful sunset and by dusk, we were back in the jacuzzi...We all had such a great time spending time together....horses were pretty to look at, the Leatherwood staff were very professional and so friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

Awesome Mountain Cabin

This was an excellent stay for my family, 4 adults early 30s a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. Clean and well kept, you could tell this was a vacation home for the owners family and they took exceptional care of all aspects of the home. I actually felt like we had a private tour guide at times with all of the questions that I sent the owner. She never hesitated to respond to any of my questions. The home and setting are beautiful. We did do some traveling throughout the area but by far our favorite days were the ones when we just decided to enjoy the immediate surroundings of Graywolf. Felt like this home was our own for the entire week. Admittedly we were not as impressed with the activities in the area. We should have listened to the many people telling us "You don't come here to DO anything". And I'm saying that in the most positive way. Would certainly return for another visit as long as it meant we weren't leaving the house the entire time!
Owner's Response: We’re so glad you enjoyed yourselves! Beverly & I were very pleased to hear that you appreciated our personal touch in your stay as well. As you say, it is our vacation home as well, so we do all we can to make sure it is well appointed and first rate. It’s very gratifying to hear from happy guests and to hear that you’d like to return as well. The majority of our guests are repeat visitors and we like it that way.
As to “Things To Do”, we do have a great many exciting activities in the area. Boone is a lively college town that caters to the vibrancy of youth with entertainment, shopping, great restaurants, bars and theater. There is whitewater rafting, gem mining and Tweetsie Railroad for the kids. There are tons of cool places to visit around every corner, not to mention the Blue Ridge Parkway with our mountains, hiking, Julian Price Lake and Moses Cone Estate Parks. Blowing Rock features the major attraction for which it was named as well as exceptional shopping and truly fine restraints as well. Don’t forget beautiful Linville Falls and the Linn Cove Viaduct. The list goes on.
We hope you can make it back soon. Each season is uniquely beautiful. Thanks again for your comments. Whether you want to come back for some great outdoors fun, a little culture or just to lay back in the front porch swing and chill, we’re happy to have you.
Thanks again. John & Beverly Graywolf Cabin

We moved from CT to NC just a year ago and this was the second vacation we have taken and so far at the top of the list.
Everything about the Home was more than we had hoped for. It was clean, well stocked and very inviting, even to our five month old puppy, who loved everthing about the yard and gated porch.
The views of Grandfather Mountain off the front porch and The Yadkin River Valley from the back were worth waking up early and retiring late. Also so inspiring that my husband Mike took up running again, enjoying Granny's Ridge.
Beverly (one of the owners) called to make sure everything was to our liking and if there was anything that we needed. She also suggested a few activities in the area that we might like.
We ventured out and visited Blowing Rock to check out the Mystery of Mystery Hill (the kids had a blast). Then we had a late lunch at Canyons (tasty) more great views.
I do believe Graywolf Cabin to be the best vacation home we have had the pleasure to vacation at,and we have had the opportunity to vacation in many over the years.
