Fantastic Family Vacation

The description says it all "Fabulous Kezar Lake retreat". This is the perfect place if you're traveling with your family. We had 6 adults and 4 children aged 3 to 6 and there was more than enough room. The house was very clean and the yard was great. The bunkhouse had a great screened porch off the back which was perfect for kids. There was also a nice screened room off the living room and master bedroom which is a great place to relax. The kids loved the yard and the adults loved the nice patio and large outdoor dining table where we ate dinner. We drove down to the lake to drop off our stuff and to bring our stuff back to the house. It takes 2 minutes to drive down to the lake, you don't even have to buckle up. The walk to the lake is really nice and my 4 year old was able to do it with no problem. Another great feature of the property is the rec room with the 2 lane bowling alley, ping pong table and pool table. There is a really nice path along the water that goes from the rec room to the lake. The lake is beautiful and perfect for small children. There is a really large grass field with a swing set and a gradual slope into the water. There isn't a big sand area but the kids didn't mind...they still managed to build their sand castles. We took the kids to Story Land which was about 45 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who is looking to get away and spend quality time their family. Beth was very nice and made sure to call on the day we arrived. She was a pleasure to deal with and we look forward to coming back again.
Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed Kezar Lake and my home, we look forward to your return next year!

Great weekend getaway on Kezar

Kezar lake is one of my favorite places in Maine, and this house is a wonderful place to stay. It had everything we needed for a weekend of ice fishing on beautiful Kezar. The house was clean, well furnished, and had all of the amenitiies that we were looking for.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay on Kezar. The house isn't right on the water, as it is part of an association. However, it is not far from the beach and boat launch area, and was no problem for us getting where we wanted to go. We are looking to go back again next year!

Great Family Vacation Spot

Our extended family had a wonderful time at the house for two weeks. It provided everything we were looking for to keep three generations happy, a wonderful great room and kitchen where we spend much of our time. The kids loved the play area and the badminton set and we all enjoyed the porches and patios to hang out in the evenings.

The lake is one of the most beautiful we've every seen, we enjoyed taking the path down to the beach and looking for wildlife along the way. We're so glad our grandchildren were able to have this experience and plan to come back each year.

The grandkids talk about the bunkhouse and the 'dog' room all the time and can't wait to come back next year.

Loved the House!

Submitted: January 2, 2012 Stayed: August 2011
Hi Beth,

I've been meaning to let you know how much we loved staying in your charming home! It took me a couple of months of searching for the perfect house for our first-ever Maine vacation. I searched the coast, Acadia, the south until I finally stumbled across your home. And it was exactly what I was looking for for our family and our friends. We felt relaxed and at home from the minute we walked through the door. Kezar Lake was beyond breathtaking. We spent almost all our time at the "beach" and the floating dock. We really wished we had the whole summer to stay there. I'm hoping that we can take a longer vacation next year. All 6 of my family and the 3 friends are sold and want to return!

Best regards,
Robin

Good Not Great

We love Kezar Lake and had a nice vacation at this home. I had to turn a blind eye to a lot of things that were not up to par. The house was accurately described except for the fact that the lake was a half mile walk instead of "a short walk" as the owner described.

I think because we rented so late in the season that the house was quite messy with other people's stuff and was not very clean. Specifically all kinds of used foods were all over the kitchen and in the fridge. The owner was out of many of the staples that she said were included in the listing as well as no gas for the decreped grill. I was told to go and purchase the gas. For the kind of money that I paid I would have expected a lot more out of this rental. I thought I was renting someone's home who rented out a few weeks during the summer. What I learned is this is truly a rental home…people in…people out.
Owner's Response: We've rented the home for three years to three new renters each year (we have two families that return each year and we use home the balance of the time) and this is the only 'challenging' time we've experienced. We were sorry that the home didn't meet the renters expectations. This is our personal home lovingly designed, built and cared for over the years with all our personal artifacts celebrating raising our sons on Kezar Lake each summer. We take all feedback to heart - new grill and we check propane each of the weeks now.
