I was very dissatisfied with my rental. You say 25 yards to beach site ---- this may be true but to get to the beach you must GO DOWN 60 STEPS TO PUT YOUR FEET ON THE BEACH AND YES YOU MUST CLIMB 60 STEPS UP FROM THE BEACH. Needless to say an older person or someone with a small child does not go to the beach very often. The sad part is our whole group are beach people, and were looking forward to it. I would not recommend the house for wheelchair people. The bottom floor is recommended for wheelchairs but you forget to mention there are 2 steps to go up. I know because I tripped on both of them. The next bad thing about the house is there are no hand rails going up and down the inside 6 flights of stairs. Other than that the house handled our group very well and we all had fun.
Owner's Response: We are very sorry that Caribbean Breeze and the beaches of 30A did not meet Joyce's expectations. In all fairness to us, she did not contacted us with a single issue during her visit or any time since her visit in early July. We have contacted her to express our regret and to address her concerns, but we have not received a response. We take pride in resolving any guest concerns promptly. Please read more than this one review to get an accurate feeling of the true guest experience at Caribbean Breeze. These reviews have consistently been positive from groups that have included infants, children, handicapped adults, and elderly adults.
For the purpose of accuracy, We would like to address each of Joyce's comments.
We are very clear with our guests that there are steps down to beach. Our beach access has about 50 steps with landings, not 60 steps. Because of our beautiful white sand dunes, most of the beach accesses on 30A have wooden walkovers with steps. Some access have more steps, some have less. Additionally, we could provide the location of nearest handicap accessible beach access on 30A.
There is only 1 small 2 inch high interior step in a remote first floor hallway of the house, not 2 steps. The first floor has a living room with direct unobstructed access to the outside, a nice size bedroom, a full bathroom, and a kitchen. This first floor living area works very well for an individual with physical limitations. There is a long hallway off this living area with the 2 inch step that leads to 3 other first floor bedrooms. We are installing caution signage at this small step to alert guests when walking in this hallway..
Caribbean Breeze is clearly a 3 story home with 2 flights of stairs. The statement of 6 flights of stairs is inaccurate. There is a set of stairs between the 1st and 2nd floor, then again 2nd and 3rd floor.
Joyce's concern about the missing hand railing was accurate. The hand railing has been re-installed.
We have had many generations of families stay at Caribbean Breeze. They return each year, and continue to be pleased with Caribbean Breeze and the 30A beaches. Again, we pride ourselves on keeping our guests happy with our homes. We provide our guests with our cell phone numbers as well as a direct phone number for a 24 hour maintenance service.
