My husband and I stayed at this apartment for a week. Everything you need at home is in the apartment. The neighborhood is quiet and there are corner stores in case you need something special to eat. The price was very good. The owners are very nice. I would recommend anyone looking for a place to stay while on vacation this is the place to be.

I stayed here for 11 days with 3 more people, it is the perfect low cost solution to visit New York. The neighborhood is quiet and the best if you just look for a place to crash after a long day walking!
The owners are really nice and even if they live upstairs you will barely notice them, they are super discrete!

Just like home

My husband, son and I had a blast in NY! We loved the unit because it felt very homey. We felt like we were part of the neighborhood. Subway was close, we never felt uneasy or unsafe. I love the historical features of the homes. John was very helpful and we knew if we needed anything he would be of assistance. I would definitely recommend this location to others.

It was a very nice place. I was almost locked out one time, but the landlord was kind and helpful. We were staying there for 6 days, the metro A & C are quite close(7,8 mins away), there are laundry, supermarket, and restaurants near by.

Great Stay in a NYC Brownstone

5 of 5
Submitted: December 21, 2012 Stayed: December 2012
I just got home from my stay at this property. It was GREAT. John was friendly and very helpful. The apartment actually exceeded my expectations. I was supposed to be travelling to NYC with 3 of my friends to celebrate my birthday there but two of them dropped out at the last minute. The apartment would have been more than enough space for all of us to move around freely. I was able to walk to the train station and be in Rockafella Center in 50 minutes. Great location for seeing New York and not have to worry about parking in expensive areas. And you're staying in a Brownstone! What better why to see NY than to stay in a piece of history? Great area, great owner, fantastic apartment. I already know that this is where I will be staying from now on when I go to NY. If you need somewhere local to stay and be able to actually see the city for less than a hotel you can stay here.

Lovely basement-level apartment

A very clean and pleasant studio on the bottom level of an old brownstone. John was a great host - he gave us tips for events in the neighborhood and provided an extra blanket when we asked for it. We'd definitely recommend this location for exploring Brooklyn, but it takes about 40 minutes by subway to get to Lower Manhattan - a bit of a hike. We loved a little Caribbean storefront restaurant on the way to the C-line stop.

We had a wonderful time while staying at this apartment. Everything was clean, the owner provided for everything we needed and even let us store our luggage on the day of our departure so we could head into the City one more time!
It was a pretty quiet neighborhood with beautiful brownstone houses, just like I've always imagined Brooklyn.
The subway was really close and took us everywhere we wanted to go. It goes all the way through Brooklyn and then takes you up to Manhattan so you don't have to worry about changing trains at all!
We enjoyed our stay very much an recommend staying at this apartment if you are planning to visit New York and don't want to feel like a tourist but just like an actual New Yorker. :-)
Thank you John and Kim. We hope to return some time!

I loved staying here! The entire unit was updated & CLEAN. :) John gave us extra towels and was very friendly and professional. We were able to have a package/mail sent to us at the address and he promptly delivered it directly to us. The neighborhood was also very nice and the price was very affordable. I would totally stay here again. I loved it! Thanks John! ---Erica from Seattle :)

Good Experience

Me and gf were looking for a reasonably priced, clean and conveniently located place to stay and Hancock seemed to fit the bill.

John and Kim were nice hosts, welcomed us and made us feel at home. The bathroom on our unit wasn't functioning the first night, so we had to use a bathroom upstairs which was not the most desirable arrangement, but John and Kim were quick to apologize for the inconvenience and had it taken care of the following day.

Neighborhood was well-located and pretty decent; I was totally comfortable, however I wouldn't have felt entirely comfortable sending the gf out late night on her own. The catfight that broke on the sidewalk during during our walk back during the block party for example...

There is a nice coffee shop a couple of blocks away to get breakfast and coffee, and there are a few fast food options not much further where the metro is (pizza, burgers, maybe kfc if i recall).

All-in-all a good experience, and def worth considering if you want a clean, conveniently located place for a very reasonable price.
Owner's Response: Unfortunately, a previous guest had put something in the toilet to cause it to malfunction. We were able to have a professional come the following day to correct the satuation. The guests were very understanding. We do have a couple of male cats in the area and when our neighbor lets her cat out the other cats get a bit wild. This is a wonderful place to use as a base to explore New York. Thank you to our guest and we look forward to your return.
