We stayed at the Big Blue house for a month this fall. It was my husband and I, our two small children, my mother, and our two cocker spaniels. We had a wonderful time.
The house was perfect! It has everything we needed and is tastefully decorated. The color scheme in the house is very bold, but at the same time all the colors work well together and make you feel happy and recharged. The size of the house was ideal for our needs. The layout is very practical, maximizing the space. My husband had to work during our visit, and he was using one of the downstairs bedrooms for his office. The downstairs area was private and quiet away from our noisy kids. The internet signal downstairs was a bit weak, but it did not end up being too much of a problem.
I absolutely loved the convection oven! It takes a few times before you get used to it, but it works so well. I’m getting one for my kitchen at home. I also loved the bathrooms – they were large, with beautiful stone throughout, skylights that allowed looking at the stars and moon, and large showers that felt so comfortable after a day at the beach. The wrap around deck was fantastic for everything – cup of coffee in the morning, glass of wine in the afternoon, and of course watching amazing sunsets!
Location- The house is on a quiet street with the bay right in front of you. It is nice to take the kayak from the garage and go exploring the shoreline and houses on the canals (it reminded us of the canals in Venice, CA). The walk to the beach is fairly short for an adult, but you do need to cross a busy street (with no cross walk) to get to the other side of the island. My mother and I and the dogs went for a sun raise walk on the beach every morning and did not mind walking across the island. However, when we went to the beach with the kids and all the equipment that comes with kids, we drove. There is free parking by the beach, and since we were there in off season, we always had a spot to park.
The owners are very responsive and want to ensure that you have everything you need to enjoy your stay.
In a nutshell, we had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. We have many great memories from the Big Blue house. This is where we saw the first smiles of our baby boy and first heard him laugh out loud. The house started feeling like home…we didn’t want to leave. Well, we definitely will be back. Dave and Gay, thank you for sharing your home with us. It is a very special place.

We had the pleasure of staying here a few nights this past month. Dave is awesome to work with, his home is truly exceptional. Every thing about this home is beautiful. The deck offered great views of the fireworks and the wireless sound outside added a nice touch. The home is huge and very welcoming. Dave thank you for allowing us to rent your home my family and I had a wonderful time.

We had a great time staying at this beautiful home. 5 bedrooms, big bathrooms, great showers, great kitchen. This is an awesome place! I purchased this opportunity at an auction to benefit the YMCA. The owners had donated their vacation home for the Y to benefit. They are very nice people, obviously with a strong community spirit. I would highly recommend this home for a great vacation spot. It's a stones throw from the bay, and it's within walking distance to the beach, and a public parking spot for the beach. Have fun!

Absolutly the best time. This house is gorgeous and Dave is fabulous. There were 6 adults and 5 kids and we never once felt crowded or on top of one another. Dave and Gay provided everything we needed and their list of hints gave us the needed info for a great weekend. Would and will highly recommend to friends who are heading to S. Padre Island.

We recently stayed at the gorgeous big blue home on the bay and couldn't have asked for more. As a decent sized group of kiters it's hard to find a place that comfortably sleeps the crew and our gear - not to mention plenty of space to clean & dry gear while we enjoyed the huge patio or TV.

This house had absolutely everything we could've asked for - and the location was perfect. Walking distance to start or end a downwinder, food, random necessities - not to mention the bay. That was only half of it though, the owners have taken such care to make sure visitors have a great time and are full of local tips. You can't go wrong.

Location was perfect for us. We played on the paddle boards and canoe right from the bay just steps away from the driveway! (My husband paddled to the causeway and back, even) When we wanted to hit the beach we just walked there from the house. It was a nice walk- not too far at all.

The master bed is soooo comfortable. No TV in any of the bedrooms though...My son was bummed but the rest of us didn't care! The BIG TV in the family room was just fine for us!

Kitchen was comfortable too- we even cooked the night we arrived! found everything we needed.

Dave- you are the perfect host! All of the information you gave us was so helpful. No detail was spared!!!! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

I stayed at the beach house while there for work. It was incredible to be able to return to a house that felt like home. counting myself and my team we had 11 people and the house never felt cramped. The Balcony is super relaxing and there are views of the bay almost everywhere you look. Custom Spa-style bathrooms in the master suites and linens etc. provided make it feel like you're walking into your second home. The finishes in the house truly make it feel luxurious and will put you well at ease whether with family or work/vacation like myself. The owner is very hospitable and helpful wanting that all guests would sincerely enjoy the space. I hope to return again for work or play soon as the house is a great treat.

This house is perfect for a large family or several couples. It is spacious, comfortable, and has all the amenities you need for the beach. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and serving meals. The views from the wrap around deck are fantastic, and the front deck has a great view of the summer fireworks.

My extended family (parents, siblings, and their kids) of 9 were very comfortable. There was both plenty of space to congregate together and places to get away to be alone with a book.

The owner Dave is amazingly helpful! Very courteous and thoughtful, and quick with a response. You can tell that he truly loves his Big Blue Beach House and he appreciates others enjoying it as much as he does!
