Family Fall Foliage Weekend
My son, wife, and two grandboys, and my niece, husband, and their two young girls from Washington, DC joined my family at the Lodge for a wonderful fall weekend. The children had a great time running around the house and fields, rolling hula hoops down the long drive, and feeding the horses and pony. There were trails right outside the lodge leading into gorgeous wooded areas, crossing little creeks, that were perfect nature hikes for our young families. The more industrious guys worked up an appetite jogging up the lane into the wildlife management area. No cars in sight anywhere! The dining table easily fit all 12 of us and there was lots of room upstairs, two separate wings, for the family groups to spread out, which is nice when you have children with different nap routines. We went to nearby Orrs Farm Market for enormous pumpkins, apples, and got up close, like right up next to the fence, with the buffalos. My three year old grandson summed up the weekend experience when we were loading the cars to leave Sunday afternoon. He slipped back into the house, sat down in front of the fireplace, and took off his shoes. Twice! He didn't want to leave and neither did the rest of us. We'll definitely be back.
