Quiet and calm

This property was everything we'd hoped for when we chose it. We wanted something removed from the hustle of society (though we didn't find much hustle in Southwest Ireland...which was perfect!). If you are looking for a place that is several years removed from the present, this is the place. Not to say that it doesn't have all of the modern conveniences you'd ever need! The house is VERY clean, comfortable and cozy. We had 70+ MPH winds one night that even made the car shake, but inside we were very comfortable, sitting and reading while listening to the wind whip around this very sturdy stone house. It was heaven.
Shelia is very knowledgable and helpful concerning the area. Take her advice on where to eat (Ashe's Bar and Goat St. Cafe in Dingle are amazing..). We didn't want for anything, it was all taken care of and provided in the house.
Also, just FYI, read the information that Shelia leaves. We skimmed it, and 2 days before we left, we reread it and realized that there was a shortcut back to Dingle on the Maum Closach (sp?) road. We'd been driving through Dunquin and Ballyferriter all the way around to avoid the tiny road around Slea Head! Oh well, it's a nice drive too!

Heaven on Earth

This house and surrounding landscape is exactly what I thought our dream Ireland vacation was going to be. The house had all the comforts that we needed and I especially enjoyed the library. The "neighbors" were always glad to see us when we provided their daily treat of apples and carrots. It is hard to explain the comfort you feel just sitting outside at the picnic table with the view of the Blasket Islands, and the smell of the green grass, ocean breeze, and peat smoke out of the chimney. When you do venture out of the house, the history of this wonderful place is literally around every corner. The 700+ pictures that we took cannot do this area justice.
The town of Dingle had just about everything that you could need including some very interesting and friendly people. Tom and Paul at the Dingle Pub became familiar faces and welcomed our family into that establishment like we had known them for years. The meals that we did eat in town were spectacular. I don't think I had a bad meal the whole time in Ireland.
Shelia was as helpful as any one person could be. She always answered any question we had in a very timely manner and gave us some very good tips and advice before the trip had started. She was just a real pleasure to speak and deal with.
Betty had the house spotless when we arrived and was friendly and courteous in matters of what was expected of us during our stay and before we left.
All in all, it was a trip of a lifetime and we are already making plans on returning with a few more family members as it would be selfish to keep this remarkable place all to ourselves.

Charming, serene, and comfortable ...

We stayed in this wonderful house in Coumeenole for a week early in the summer of 2011, and found the house and the area to be one of the most beautiful, and powerful places we've ever visited.
We enjoyed and appreciated the simple, well kept comfort of the house and its complete list of amenities. Everything needed is there, including a wonderful library of Irish authors, a peat fireplace, and even wireless broadband internet access.
While the house itself is comfortable and inviting, it's the power of the area that totally captures. You are surrounded by nature, with the surf crashing on the beach that's a stone's throw from the front door, and with incredible views of Dunmore Head and the Great Blasket Islands. Yet surrounding the house itself, the pastoral beauty of Mount Eagle, with its miles of ancient stone walls, and its contentedly grazing sheep and horses reminds you that the history of this area is deep and as powerful, and as omnipresent as the drama of the ocean across the street.
The owner of the the property is very helpful, and accommodating. From her communications it's easy to see that her goal is for visitors to enjoy and appreciate the house, the surroundings and spirit of the area as much as she does.
This charming Irish home on the Dingle peninsula has been calling to us since our visit in July. We are answering that call by returning next July ... and we are very much looking forward to the reunion.

A fabulous, peaceful week on the Dingle Peninsula

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home in a beautiful, rural part of Ireland. The view from the house is spectacular with the clear blue Atlantic below the green headlands with the blasket islands beyond. Sunsets are beautiful. The house is lovely, tasteful and has an excellent Irish literary collection - we particularly enjoyed the Yeats poetry, Celtic mythology and William Trevor stories. The kitchen is well-equiped and the beds and bedrooms very comfortable - long deep sleeps with the wind and the sounds of the sea. We enjoyed running especially on the headland over-looking the ocean. Dingle town is about 20 minutes away on the small winding roads. It is lovely and the restaurants very good (esp Out of the blue, Goat Street Cafe and Murphy's ice cream). The Courthouse was a good place for a pint of Guinness, good music and lively discussion. Dick Mack's pub is a classic of its kind. We also enjoyed the indoor rock-climbing wall (great for kids on a rainy day) and surfing at Inch beach (cold but good waves and instruction available). Truly an wonderful place with a very kind and helpful owner.

This place has captured our hearts!

We stayed in the cottage for one week in July. This place is so natural and very peaceful. In front of the house grazing sheep, cattle behind the house.
A horse and a goat share the pasture beside the house. All day you can hear the roar of the sea and the surf (when you are outside). A wonderful atmosphere.
The streets, which are leading to the house are very narrow and from time to time you see a sheep on the side of the road, which quickly moves up the slope.
For its age the house is in well condition and it has everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped. I only missed a colander.
We enjoyed that there was no television. You can enjoy the evenings romantic in front of the fireplace or read, listen to radio, play board games or admire the starry sky in front of the house. The beds were very comfortable and so we had a wonderful sleep.
In the resort of Dingle, there is much to discover. Many craft stores offer goodies for loved ones at home. You can visit the Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium if it is a rainy day.
On the peninsula you'll find many beautiful beaches which you can walk along or take a bath, observe birds or perhaps make yourself comfortable on a blanket.
Do not miss to travel on the Connor Pass. The view of the Peninsula and Dingle Bay is magnificent.
We had a nice e-mail contact to Shelia, the owner. Locally it is looked after by a housekeeper, who is also very nice.
The description was absolutely correct. The Dingle Peninsula is without doubt one of the most beautiful spots of Ireland.
For every amateur photographer it's a paradise. We enjoyed our stay very much and would always come back.
