Photos and Description of the Newport vacation house rental
3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 4

Newport is a walkable town, and this neighborhood is quite conducive to walking. The neighborhood is very safe, and the streets are beautiful to walk along. Many of the houses have wonderful gardens and landscaping, and the colonial houses are nearly all in freshly restored form, true to their original classic styles.

This is the closest neighborhood to the Navy base, it's a 10 min walk or quick bike ride. There is absolutely no traffic to the base.

There are two parks in the neighborhood and two piers that are perfect for picnics.

There is a quaint restaurant and pub right in the neighborhood, only an 8 minute walk from the house. The downtown area start just past that, about 2 minutes walk farther. If you prefer to drive, everything in town is within 5 minutes. On the summer weekends you will need to know the back ways to make that work, which I will share with you. Bicycling is also a great quick way to get around and saves you from having to find a parking space downto

Newport in the summer: Newport is an amazing summer destination. It is nearly always cool here, typically 10-15 degrees cooler than on the mainland. It is really only crowded on the weekends. From Sunday afternoon until Thursday afternoon there is usually no trouble getting through town, finding parking, or getting into restaurants without a wait.

There is so much to do here it is hard to cover it all. Grass tennis courts at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the best sailing on the east, Golf, shopping, beaches, nature conservatories, colonial architecture - and the food is amazing. There are over 200 restaurants and pubs in Newport, and I can jump-start you on the best ones to try out. Festivals, concerts, comedy series run all year long, and in the winter there is an outdoor skating rink right in the center of town.

Off Season: Newport is quieter in the off season, but it is not dead. Most of the restaurants are open year-round, and there are still festivals from time to time in the winter. The bars and clubs still get a decent crowd even when it's cold. We usually don't get a lot of snow because the storms typically follow the mainland. However, it is *windy* here in the winter, and that means strong wind-chills. You do want to bring good gloves, hats & jackets.

What makes this house unique

Note to military and Navy base business people - This is the ideal neighborhood for working at the base. It is the closest nice/upscale neighborhood to the base, and you do not have any traffic to get through to get to the base, it is residential all the way. There isn't even a traffic light except for the one in front of the base itself.

Newport-My Newest Favorite Place

The house is cozy and comfortable, clean and well maintained. The location is great-- a short walk to the center of Newport with many historic houses and beautiful gardens along the way.

Avram is a real jewel-always ready to help or answer questions and goes out of his way to respect your privacy.

My daughters and I had a great time touring some of the "mansions of the gilded age", shopping the unique shops and eating loads of scrumptious seafood (Rhumbline,a neighborhood restaurant was very good!) There are also great thrift stores and consignment shops. One of the highlights was Beavrtail Lighthouse and Park--a short drive away. It is an absolutely beautiful area.

I would definitely recommend the property to friends and family and hope to return for another visit.

Thanks, Avram, loved it!

Winter Rental

My boyfriend and I rented this beautiful home in the winter due to a change in accommodations while visting family over the holiday season, but it was an amazing visit. Avram, the owner, was unbelievably helpful and flexible with our situation and was quick and responsive throughout our rental.

The house itself is well maintained, with a great yard for any four-legged friends to take a romp in. We didn't spend too much time in Newport since we were visiting family in nearby Mass., but downtown is only a short drive away. I did do some Christmas shopping in town, and the thrift/antique shops are definitely something to check out if you're looking to save a few pennies.

Overall, we recommend this home and Avram's amazing customer service 110%. We would certainly rent here again.

I rented out 7 Lasalle place for a five night stay on jazz festival weekend, and had a great time enjoying Newport with my family. It was only a ten minute walk to the action on Thames, and just a few blocks to the ocean. The house was clean and in great condition, containing all the charm of a historic Newport home. Avram was kind enough to allow use of his bikes, and even recommended a few restaurants to try out. Overall a great rental experience.

Working with Owner

First off, my experience dealing with the owner of the property was great, he had two parties who wanted it and dealt with both in a professional and fair fashion. He worked with us on the terms of the lease and was responsive and understanding. We ended up having to back out in the end because someone in our party couldn't go but Avram was understanding about the whole thing. While I can't comment about the property, my dealings with the owner were great.

We are a family of four and we all (kids included) really enjoyed our week in Newport and our stay at this well maintained and charming house. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We took the kids to the pier/beach a block away every day. It's a private non crowded area and the locals couldn't be nicer ! It's a short walk to downtown Newport and we couldn't get enough of that area either. Great views, great food and plenty to do. The house is a peaceful "home base" in a gorgeous vacation spot. The decor is uncluttered and classic, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well equiped and it was all spotless. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and made everything easy. There are too many good things to list about this home and the owner. When we come back to Newport this would be my first choice for a vacation rental. Loved it !! Thanks Avram !!
