What a lovely, inviting home! The location was perfect . . . very close to the heated pool, the beach and, yes, even McDonalds. Less than 3 miles from the Outlet Mall and Walmart, but in a seemingly secluded area with lots of good areas to walk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My wife and family have been traveling to Destin Florida for the past 14 years from the UK, and have stayed in many homes over the years,but for the past three years feel we have truly found our home from home in Dottys Dune Retreat, our two Sons are grown up now but still join us with there Girl Friends, making it a perfect place for some quality Family time.
The location could not be better just a short walk to the finest Beach you could ever wish for, there are several great restaurants within walking distance.

I really enjoyed the stay. The area was laid back and quiet. It was closer to the beach than I thought and we didn't have any issues in the home. We are considering going back to stay at the same place next year!

In 2 words: simply awesome.
Our Experience:
I hadn't really had a vacation in 8 years, and I was really picky about the place we rent. We wanted our space, yet be economical. Getting this house for about the same price as a 2 Bed/Bath accommodation in a hotel--our choice was a no-brainer.
About the House:
1. This property is about a 1 minute walk from beach, and is close to Pompano Joe's--one of the best seafood places in Destin.
2. The house was spacious, very well kept, and had all the amenities one could ask for. Oh! by the way--all appliances were fairly new.
3. Neighborhood was quiet, and safe.
About the owner/property manager:
The owner/property manager is extremely helpful and responds fairly quickly.
Rating:
I rate this property an A+ and recommend it without reservations. Personally, I have told a few friends about this property and they might rent it on their next trip.

I stayed in Dotty's Dune retreat for 5 days and had an overall wonderful experience. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the house. It is very clean, freshly painted, seemed to have brand new carpets, in a great location near the beach & pool, and although the decor is not very updated it is in top notch condition. The pictures honestly do not do this place justice at all. The owners have kept it up very nicely. The rental company also made the trip reservation very easy for us. We will definitely return to this house and refer our friends and family that may be looking for a great house just steps away from Pompano Joe's and the beautiful Destin beaches!

My family an I would like to thank you for allowing us to stay at Dottys dune retreat for the second time, we love this home from home so much, it's great location allows us to walk to the beach every morning without having to use the car and what a beach, we had all we needed in the garage for a day on the beach,four bikes if you feel like a ride along the beach road. Pompano Joes beach restaurant was great for lunch.
We were central to all shops golf courses and restaurants within Destin, so if you are looking for the perfect place to stay you won't be disappointed We are already planning our next trip.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dotty's. It seemed to be a quiet neighborhood and so close to the beach. Even in the heat we always walked to the beach without any complaints but there was public parking at the same access point. We walked to Pomano Joes several nights as well and always enjoyed it. The house itself was in great shape...there was only 4 of us staying there so it seemed very spacious. We LOVED being able to park in the garage and the fact that we didn't have to keep up with housekeys since it was a code entry. Linda was great at working with us and answering all my questions I threw at her. We will definitely try to stay here again if we return to Destin in the future!

"This is truly a home away from home!
After a lengthy drive it was so nice to walk into a clean spacious abode that makes you glad you left all the work and worries behind. This is not the sterile environment you can sometimes get with a rental unit. This one smacks of cozy comfort.
No parking lot to negotiate through, no stairs to climb and no elevators to wait for just a short hop from the car to kitchen where there is lots of storage for groceries and snacks.
The spectacular beaches of the Gulf coast are only a five minute walk away yet you are still removed from the noise and congestion that typify beach front rentals.
Great shopping at the outlet mall is just a short drive away or a fifteen minute bike ride and makes for a fun outing."

We stayed at Dotty's Dune Retreat in July 2010. It was a last minute trip, and the property was perfect for our party of 8. It is a quaint community tucked just over a block from the white sands of the Destin's beaches. The community pool was very clean and not busy. The house has nice furnishings and feels spacious with the layout. It was an easy walk to Pompano Joe's for dinner, or you can just as easily cook in. Everything was just as it said it would be, and Linda was very prompt in communicating. We had a great time!
