A Superb Retreat in Texas!
We returned recently from a delightful 7 day stay at Casa Rosa in August and give high ratings for this place.
The house is spacious and quite accommodating for my husband, two adult sons, and me. The downstairs bedroom was a perfect guest room when our daughter and friend joined us for the weekend. I found the decor appealing and plenty of sitting space in the living room area, though the kitchen was a little trickier to work with 6 as the island counter held only a tight four, but we made it work in various ways as there was a table in the corner. Thanks to the table, we were able to play cards and put together some puzzles while there.
The river water was a bit cold for us to swim, but we enjoyed the quiet relaxation of floating around on tubes as the still water kept us very close to “home”. Having large and small coffee pots was good for appeasing caffeine versus non-caffeine drinkers in our family. We found cooking pots, pans, and utensils quite adequate for making formal meals.
I’d give cleanliness a 9, only because of some dust on the baseboards in the upstairs bathroom, which I probably might have missed if cleanliness was not listed in the previous July critique. Also mentioned … we only found 3 bugs the whole week we were there, so not something to fret over – especially knowing we were able to eliminate two!!!
Something special I liked was the large walk-in closet running off the bathroom upstairs. It was nicely laid out with shelves and hanging areas to store clothes and belongings, making it very easy to locate items rather than storing belongings in suitcases.
We had our own laptops but initially found a problem with the wireless internet which we called the staff about and thereafter spoke to the owner. The matter was taken care of promptly and a new modem installed within a day or two.
We also had a problem with the hot tub which we didn’t find out until climbing in one evening and finding the temperature control stuck at 109. That was okay with us, though, as the weather was so hot during the day anyway that we skipped using the hot tub and reported the problem before we left. Other than a few loose screws on 2 cabinet doors/towel hangers and a sluggish drain upstairs (which we also reported), the place is nicely maintained. The many benefits we had staying here outweigh the few flaws we found. For age 55+ ? Yes, but a cane might be useful.
We’re thankful for the opportunity to stay at Casa Rosa!

Owner's Response: It is always rewarding to hear that folks enjoyed staying in our home. Without feedback those small inconveniences experienced would grow to the point that others couldn't enjoy their stays. Our aim is for any problem be rectified quickly & cheerfully so that our guests' stays are enjoyable & they want to return every year.
