A feast for the senses

What a wonderful place. The home is very comfortable and the view of the bay and the lights of SF at night from the large front windows is just breathtaking. The terrace was sunny for most of the day with lovely reclining chairs and the scent from the surrounding plants and trees was like nothing I've ever experienced. It's all a feast for the senses and makes for a wonderful retreat.
I do agree with another visitor who said it's best to approach the house for the first time in daylight as finding it and parking in the driveway can be a bit tricky at first. I was there alone for most of my 10-day stay, exploring the surrounding area by car during the day and enjoying the house in the late afternoons/evenings.
When I travel, I like to be within walking distance of restaurants for dinner, and evening activities. Though there are hidden stairways leading down to the town, they're quite steep and long, and it's a mile then from the stairs to the nearest restaurants so I had to use the car at night. But, except for that detail, it was a lovely apartment that felt like a very private house. I'd highly recommend it.

Beautiful view, charming apt.

We loved the elegant and relaxing apartment, the deck and view, and the hot tub! Driving up at night was a bit of a challenge for an east coaster--but worth the effort. One of the very best VRBO rentals we've stayed at in the Berkeley area. Our local children and grandchildren loved visiting, too. Well outfitted kitchen and thoughtful layout.

We have had a terrific stay at the flat. It is simply perfect, and we have absolutely no complaints. We are already talking about next year and considering a longer stay perhaps. Of course the fabulous weather we've had has made it even more appealing. Reading on the deck, looking at that spectacular bay view, breathing in the intoxicating scents of so many exotic plants, and walking the delightful neighborhoods have been wonderful, not to mention the proximity to Tilden, Redwood, and Pt. Pinole parks. Julian talked about Briones, which we're actually planning to hike in today. The kitchen is wonderfully supplied with plenty of utensils and dishes and even spices. You have a real gem here!

Lovely view from a comfortable home.

This was a lovely, comfortable home with a very nice view. I am glad we were able to make our way to this rental in daylight hours as the approaching roads are a bit steep and winding--however, well worth the climb. This is a very convenient location from which to vacation or work. It was very adequately equipped for our week long stay. I hope we can return for another visit in the future!

Zen Atmosphere in the Berkeley Hills

We enjoyed the view and our stay. Very well decorated with a Japanese motif. Well equipped kitchen with unique and colorful dishes. Good hot water in the shower.

A Gem in the Berkeley Hills

I enjoyed every minute of my three week stay in this spacious, open, tastefully furnished flat high in the Berkeley Hills. The views of the bay, bridges, and beautiful trees with birds soaring overhead were truly spectacular. I'm a lover of the outdoors and the house had two areas for relaxing outside - the front patio
complete with hot tub and the side deck with a table for outside dining and a heater for cool weather as well as deck chairs. Tilden Park is close by and I enjoyed many an afternoon hike on the various trails.
The owner's son lives in the downstairs apartment and was very respectful of my privacy but was most helpful and pleasant as were any communications I had with the owner.
Anyone lucky enough to stay in this property is sure to fall in love with it.

Perfect place in the Berkeley hills

We spent a wonderful month in this property, moving in easily and finding everything we needed to feel comfortable and even at home. We never tired of the spectacular view of Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco, and we appreciated the large terrace that runs the length of the apartment (which, incidentally, felt like a house), with its table and chairs, chaise lounges, and flowers that kept attracting hummingbirds. A second outside space - fully private - held the hot tub and more lounging chairs. This place is high up in the Berkeley hills, so high that one need only climb a few of the hidden staircases that connect the streets in order to reach Grizzly Peak and Tilden Park. We found the kitchen very well stocked, the bathroom shower easy to use, the laundry facilities accessible, and the furniture cozy and elegant. The owner's son was very responsive to our questions. We would return here (and no doubt will!) in a flash.

Great Berkeley stay

The photos are good, but the ambiance is even better. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, the hot-tub patio and the deck. The owners were immediately helpful with the one problem we had. This is quintessential Berkeley living! It is high in the hills, so a good place if you enjoy walking.
