We have just returned from a fabulous festive break at the cliffhouse. We went with our 3 smalll children and didn't really know what to expect or how they would adjust to Jamaican living. Luckily, thanks to the various local friends attached to the property, we couldn't have been made to feel more at home, or moree comfortable. It was great having o'neil and family on site as nothing was too much trouble and every element of the property was kept in tip top shape. That said there a a few niggles as some of the kitchen equipment was on it's last legs, but overall the pros massively outweighed the cons. The house is really spacious and has a great terrace and fabulous grounds, complete with fruit trees which really impressed our city dwelling children. We used the recommended cook for breakfast and lunch every day and enjoyed fantastic jamaican cuisine and i barely had to venture into the kitchen as trevor also did all the clearing and washing up which was a joy. There are lots of great beaches within 30 mins drive and it is a very easy stroll to cousins cove and the beach bar which saw lollipop (and red stripe) sales boom during our 2 weeks!! We had a few lunches out in negril and at local beaches which o'neil recommended all all were great, although trevor prodcued the best food for us by far. Evenings watching the sun go down with a punch in hand whilst listening to the kids enjoying a spontaneous game of some sort with their new jamaican chums wont be forgotten quickly and we wouldnt hesitate to recommend the cliffhouse to others, just dont try to go at the same time as us please as we shall be returning!

A Perfect piece of paradise for one week!

It's hard to be home...
My family and I have just returned from a fantastic week at the Cliffhouse in Cousins Cove and it was fantastic. The grounds were amazing, the snorkeling and diving out our front door were an every morning must. We choose the Cliffhouse because of the location with easy access to Negril and MoBay. However, we seldom wanted to leave as we just were all so happy there with the huge pool, private tennis courts and just lounging around with some great R and R. The house was very well equipped and now has Wifi which is convenient as we have teens. The bedrooms and all bathrooms were great and we simply needed nothing.
One of the biggest highlights of the trip was certainly Yogi (our personal chef) He is an amazing cook, fun, funny and is a local legend with his gourmet skills. We woke to breakfast every morning and had most dinners also at the villa. The outside dinning area was all of our favorites coupled with Yogi's great meals it was perfect.
One of the other highlights is that 2 of our children wanted to get PADI certified. Not only was it considerably less than in the states but the biggest thing is that our Dive Master came to the house and kids started diving in the Caribbean on day one. Diving or snorkeling, the Cliffhouse will not disappoint you. There is some great lobsters just beyond the reef to catch, spear fishing or just site seeing, all is great for beginners or skilled.
We have been traveling to Jamaica for many years and our kids feel welcome love the people and the culture as do we. If you are not into the all inclusive hotel thing and want to truly experience Jamaica and all it has to offer, this is a great choice. It took us around 20 minutes to get to Negril for dinner one night and of course cliff diving at Ricks and seven mile beach. We also went to MoBay to Margaritaville and the hipstrip for the day plus Mayfield falls but found we were just as happy making our own drinks and having the beautiful grounds to enjoy at the Cliffhouse. We all look forward to our return and being a foodie, I miss Yogi's cooking the most!

The lovely Cliff House

We had a wonderful time at the Cliff house. Everything about it was perfect, Dan had kept the whole thing a secret and told us we were going to Spain right up to the time of check in. The location was great too, so peaceful, I was always first up not wanting to waste one moment of our beautiful surroundings sitting in the hammock with my cup of tea looking out over the reef. The evenings also were amazing the beautiful fireflies and the sounds of the tree frogs.
O`neil, Angelita, Yogi were all wonderful, Vessel really looked after the boys and drove them where ever they wanted to go. We always enjoyed our walks down to the little store and of course the stop off at Bryron's bar on the way back. We had the best goodbye ever, Harvey our son, played his guitar (lots of Bob Marley stuff) and everyone in Bryrons joined in. We made some great friends and I`m sure we`ll be back. Thankyou so much .

Amazing property, great service and value!

We had an amazing spring break from law school at this wonderful and secluded property. The owners were very accommodating to our request, allowing us to bring a group of 13 people, which is more than usual for this property. Even with a group this size the house felt spacious. The rooms are great, the service from the local staff is great. O'Neil, Anjelita, Vessel and Yogi really made us feel welcome. Anjelita and her assistant's cleaning was really helpful, especially when we were so many people. Yogi made great food, especially the fish dinner he made for us. His jerk goat stew had a real kick to it, which everyone liked except one of our friends who's more sensitive tounge almost fell off from the spicyness!
We brought our own van, so we did our expedtions of our own. The trip from Kingston to Negril was a great experience, although the road conditions, especially between Kingston and the north coast is a test for both driver and particularly nervous passengers. Exploring the mountains around Negril is really recommended, we went on our own, but I assume going with O'Neil would be easier with a smaller group as some of the sights are not clearly marked on maps and on by signs.
This house is a find, well kept and at an amazing price! We really hope to return one day.

Cliffhouse visit

We had a wonderful holiday at Cliffhouse. O'Neil, Anjelita and Yogi were all lovely to deal with and added to a relaxing and fun holiday. It was the first time in Jamaica for all of us (David had been to Barbados before) and there was so much to take in. By the end of the holiday we were very much in tune with the rhythm of the place and wouldn't have minded a few more days by the pool!
We went out with O'Neil four times in the van, during which he augmented our musical education. He took us on a little tour of the villages in the hills nearby, including Bustamante's birthplace, and we
had a couple of days on the beach at Negril. We liked the beach a lot, once we learned to deal effectively with the swarms of hawkers. We ate at Margaritaville, where the atmosphere and the food were good, and also at Sea Splash, where the setting was beautiful but the food mediocre.The children went out on Vessel's vessel early one morning to fish. They were disappointed not to catch more than one small tuna. Maybe that was just unlucky.We also did the batcave tour
with Jah one evening, which was amazing.
You were right to say that Yogi's cooking is the best around. He and his
food were a total hit with all of us, the children finding him particularly fascinating and the coolest person they knew. He cooked for us most nights and everything got eaten.We loved the house; the layout of the big room was great and perfect for Giant Jenga (another hit). The pool was beautiful and well-used and the garden and pool area were kept
tidy by Yogi. We also made use of the tennis court. As you know, the snorkelling equipment was a bit depleted when we arrived. I think only two of the masks were usable, and O'Neil reimbursed us for the two that we bought and left there.
We made a couple of visits to Byron's bar (or Joe's coffee shop). What an experience. And we also had a drink at O'Neil's bar which is very smart, and the boys played pool.
So we very much enjoyed our time at Cliffhouse and our teenage children and their friends are still talking about suffering from "Jamaica withdrawal".

I wanted to let you know that my wife and I have traveled all over the world and Cliffhouse was the best time we have had in years. I don't know that there is anything more that we can say as a group to sell Yogi and Vessel, but these two were the greatest part of our visit. The dinners, the fun, the laughs the games and the true Jamaican experience have us all begging to come back again. AND SOON!!! I just left Eric and Julies house and we were just discussing how much we wished to see Yogi and Vessel again. We have even thought about trying to fly them here to show them what we do for fun.
I am almost certain that we will be back, but not until we get a few more hours of leave on the books so that we can stay a bit longer. You have quite a great piece of paradise and we want more of it. Thank you again to you and the group on site for a wonderful visit.

I don't know where to begin. We had an absolutely fabulous time at Cliffhouse despite the weather. And it wasn't even bad according to our standards. We were able to snorkel the day before we left after the seas calmed down a little and we were all very pleased about that.
What a truly wonderful establishment you have. The house was exactly as described, if not better. I think we are all in agreement that what really made it such a wonderful experience is the fabulous people that you have working for you. We all felt that because of them we were able to see the real Jamaica. We couldn't have gotten that experience at Sandals or some big resort.
O'Neil was our go to guy the entire trip, from the moment we arrived at the airport until the day we left. If there was something we needed we just asked and he happily arranged it for us.
Angelita always arrived each day with such a beautiful smile. She was always extra careful not to interfere with what we were doing while at the same time, she kept the house spotless!
Vessel, what a kind and helpful person. He was there to aid in anything we asked for. He volunteered to go into the stores with us to be sure we received the correct pricing on everything and to "look out" for us at all times. He took us to the caves, on a 3 hour hike to his farm and even took us up on our invitation to dinner 2 nights in a row. While riding in the car I mentioned liking the music we were listening to and he went out of his way to make me a cd before we left. We will be sure to have him take us fishing next time.
Yogi, Yogi, Yogi...I can't even find the words to describe this man. What a warm soul. Always arriving with a bag full of goodies for dinner with his ever present welcoming grin. And the food...I could not have asked for anything better. We were even brave enough to try the curried goat, which ended up being the favorite dish of the trip. Yogi even stayed to play Pinnacle with us a few nights. He and Vessel are definitely the masters of the game!
We really had an awesome trip! We can't wait to go back and visit our new found friends. We will be sure to recommend your great retreat to all of our friends and family.
