IMPORTANT NOTICE: The cabana is presently occupied by family members until further notice!
The “cabana” is actually a spacious studio apartment, situated behind a private home; a well-appointed, comfortable, and tranquil environment, to use as your personal retreat while you explore the island and its environs.
The decor is modern and casual. Original Brazilian, Balinese, and Peruvian artwork enhance the space, as do tall and wide sliding glass doors, which invite the outside in, even when closed.
The cabana contains all the modern amenities the discriminating traveler hopes to find when traveling abroad, including whisper-quiet ceiling fans for air circulation on temperate days. Should you feel it's too hot for only fans, the cabana has a powerful (and quiet) air-conditioner to keep you cool.
The cabana is for adults only. Age verification is required, to confirm a reservation. The person signing the rental agreement must be at least 30 years of age. Smoking is not permitted.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: THE CABANA IS PRESENTLY OCCUPIED BY FAMILY MEMBERS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! RESERVATIONS, EVEN THOSE WELL IN ADVANCE, CANNOT BE MADE AT THIS TIME. CHECK BACK HERE FOR AN UPDATE TO AVAILABILTY. THANKS!
The nearby beaches... Praia Moçambique: One of the best beaches on the island is Praia Moçambique (praia is the Portuguese word for beach). Moçambique is a 14 kilometer/8 mile crescent stretch of pristine sand, with no development whatsoever. Floripa Cabana is within a few minutes walk from this amazing beach, and the small fishing village of Barra da Lagoa. For those that would like to try some surfing, the waves at Barra are generally considered to be a bunny slope.
Praia Mole: Less than ten minutes away by car, or public bus, is Praia Mole (pronounced Mol-E, meaning 'soft') and Praia Galheta. For the physically fit, you can also walk there from Floripa Cabana in about 30 mins, which will entail hiking up a steep hill (so easier on the return). Praia Mole is the 'scene' beach. It is the playground for gals in dental-floss bikinis, and guys with six-packs... the abdominal kind. Your eyes will need some rest after spending the day people-watching here. The surfing at this beach is definitely for the more accomplished!
Praia Galheta is a short distance from Mole, and can only be reached by a narrow foot trail. It is a moderate walk of exertion level, and very scenic. Praia Galheta: Galheta is the officially sanctioned nude beach on the island. Contrary to what many people often believe, Brazilian women do NOT go topless on public beaches, and it's recommended women visiting from other countries follow their lead. However, at Galheta, 'birthday suits' are welcome, so topless is certainly fine for women at this beach. Galheta is quite popular with the GLS community too. Yet not everyone on this beach is a nudist, or part of the GLS crowd. Surfers and fishermen also frequent this spot on occasion. A live/let live attitude prevails, and everyone is doing their own thing, enjoying the sun, sand, and sea.
