Wonderful Family Vacation!
We celebrated my father's 70th birthday over fathers day weekend. We came with 6 adults and 2 girls (5 and 3). I had searched many cabins, looking for something nice, that was decorated with a 'mountain or bear' theme. This fit the bill, and was decorated beautifully. The pictures online are accurate and Diane was a pleasure to work with. We escaped the Vegas heat, and enjoyed days that were around the 80 degree mark. Sweatshirts were fine for the mornings and evenings. Their is no AC, but if it does get warm inside, opening the windows provide a nice breeze inside. We made all our meals there, the kitchen is stocked with practically any pan or tool needed. You may consider bringing a coffee maker from home if you have a lot of rabid coffee drinkers. (the one there is smaller and a bit slow). Diane let me know we could bring food for the deer with us so I bought a 50lb bag of 'Sweet Feed' from our livestock store. Seeing the many deer walk up to the feeder everyday was an absolute highlight of the trip for all of us! It was 15 bucks well spent. Other highlights were fishing at beautiful Aspen Mirror lake (5 min. from the house) we brought power bait from home, and were shocked that everyone caught fish, even the girls with their Barbie rods! You can buy fishing licenses at Loose Wheels Gas Station in the village. We also rented ATV Razors from Pine Woods Resort for the day. They provide helmets for the kids, and the wooded trails were gorgeous! So fun, but very dusty, so bring sunglasses/scarves. I would recommend bringing all your groceries with you, there is only a very limited selection that is way overpriced at the Loose Tires gas station or Ace Hardware store. Just an FYI...the only TV's that get Direct TV are the Master bed, and the living room. All of the other bedrooms have TV's with DVD players that DO NOT get TV channels, so bring DVD's or use those at the house. It didn't affect the quality of our trip at all, but a few of the adults were disappointed they couldn't watch regular TV in their rooms at bedtime. We had so much fun playing card games, doing crafts and even going on a nature scavenger hunt in the neighborhood. Duck Creek is a beautiful little community, and this cabin is wonderful...we highly recommend coming here and booking this spot! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home Diane and Mike!
Owner's Response: Carrie,
WOW - thank you so much for such an awesome review. I'm so happy you and your family had such an amazing 70th birthday celebration for your Dad. So glad you liked the cabin, and that it met all your expectations and needs. I knew you would absolutely love watching all the deer come to the feeder. Even after all the years we have been going to the cabin, I still get so excited when they come the property. OMG - loved that the girls caught fish with their Barbie poles. So cute! Was not aware the coffee pot was dripping so slow. Sounds like its on its way out. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. The breakdown for the Direct TV in the rooms is listed under the amenities tab on the website. I'm so sorry some were not aware that, and that it didn't effect the quality of their stay. Duck Creek Village is truly a little gem, and I so happy you and your family got to enjoy it, and create so many wonderful memories to take home with you. It was truly a pleasure working with you and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve you. Have a wonderful summer, and we would love to have you return to the cabin some day. Again, we are so touched with such a wonderful review. Thank you!
