Great getaway for 60th Birthday!

Submitted: April 13, 2013 Stayed: April 2013
I rented this house kind of last minute for my moms 60th birthday. Getting everything arranged with Betsy was a breeze, she was very friendly and helpful. I would say that the house is located between Rockport and Aransas Pass. It was very easy to get to and the location was great. We all loved it! The kitchen, dining, and living area were open to each other and very roomy. It was plenty roomy for everyone to sit and talk. My dad, husband, and brother loved the fact that they could fish right there.

This house had many amenities, which is very nice when you already have to drive a couple of hours to get there and space in the car is limited. There were games, movies, books, laundry supplies, paper products, spices, and even shampoo(I'm sure some of this was left by previous guests and some of this stuff we didn't need, but it was nice that it was there just in case).

My husband and I live at the beach in North Carolina and we just love to be near the water anytime we're on vacation. I hope to return to this home when I get another chance to visit my family in Texas! I highly recommend renting this house if you get the opportunity!

Pelican Roost Is A Comfortable, Lovely Home

5 of 5
Submitted: March 29, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
This is a great home, in a great location. We had our son's family (4 people) with us for part of the 10 days. The granddaughters loved the downstairs bedroom. The owners have done a great job decorating the home. The kitchen, upstairs living area, and master bedroom suite are all very spacious.
The location is ideal. We enjoyed fishing off the dock (not much catching, but the girls had fun). Our son paddled a kayak out to Estes Flats a couple times for wade fishing.
The home is just a short drive to several good places to eat in Rockport/Fulton, as well as grocery stores to stock up on supplies. And, it's a short drive to Port Aransas for great beach time, and more good eating. It's also only 30+ miles to Corpus Christi which has a great acquarium, antique row, and more good eating. (Can you tell we didn't do any cooking in that nice kitchen :) ?)
The owners were most helpful, responded promptly to my inquiry emails, and very easy to work with.
We would highly recommend this home, and hope to go back as our son's family lives in Austin.

Owner's Response: Dick. Thank you for the lovely review. Welcome to our 'Pelican's Roost family'.

Pleasant three night fishing trip

Spent three nights her on a family fishing trip and really enjoyed it. The home is quite comfortable and clean with several indoor and outdoor living spaces, and is right on the canal for easy boat access. It's also very conveniently located just outside Rockport, so you have easy access to all the restaurants and shops there. We would fully recommend this rental to anyone.

The house was just as described. It's a very nice place, well kept/clean with a great location right on the water. We enjoyed having on morning coffee on the upper deck overlooking the canal. We will definitely book this place again. Thank you so much for having us in your home.

We rented the home for Spring Break and had a wonderful time. The home is very spacious and comfortable. We launched our kayaks right from the back yard. The owners were very gracious and attentive. Awesome deal for spring break!
Owner's Response: We also love kayaking and boating from 'our backyard'. We are always happy when our guests enjoy some of the extra amenities at Pelican Roost.

Peaceful and Relaxing

My husband and I, with another couple we invited, spent a wonderful time at this quiet, peaceful, and relaxing place: Pelican Roost. We were here on a three-day weekend. Since the weather was a bit drizzly, we were able to truly enjoy the house and its extensive amenities. It was exactly as described.
We used the two upper in-suite bedrooms which I thought were very nice looking. Each one has it’s own theme that was incorporated into the ocean/water motif of overall décor. They’re located on each side of the big room, giving everyone a sense of privacy while sharing the amenities found in the big room. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the upper deck, facing the canal, and would watch the ducks glide by. It became our favorite area, since we also had our after dinner drinks watching the stars when possible. Didn’t see many boats, probably because of the rainy weather.
The Pelican Roost had everything a renter would wish to have available. Almost like being at home. We had a great working BBQ; very good TV reception, I’m going to assume cable, because we also had Wi-Fi with no problems connecting; lovely kitchen with everything you could possible need; great dining area; and much much more.
None of us four are fishing aficionados, so we didn’t have the experience that other people have had. Nevertheless, we saw some fish jumping up right in front of us on occasions. We caught up with of our reading, though.
We enjoyed the shopping once the weather allowed and walked up and down the main shopping area in Rockport, and played a few card games.
The owners were very nice and gracious, and I had no trouble in contacting them at all when the need arose, even though they were traveling themselves at the time. They truly have a great place and make you feel welcome.
We highly recommend Pelican Roost for Families with Teenagers, Couples Seeking Quiet and Romance, and even though we don’t fish, it looks like a great place to do so.

Great Vacation Spot

We had a wonderful week at the Pelican Roost. The Owners have thought of everything. The house feels like home! The beds are ever so comfortable and the Master Bathroom feels like a SPA.
The house is so accomodating for groups of 8. We loved sitting on the top balcony for breakfast and the downstairs balcony/patio for the eve. meal. There are two grills. Everything and more is in this house. The neighbor next door is so nice. The house next door is a rental and we met some wonderful people fishing a tournament. We went fishing just about 4 miles away to Aransas Bay and we even fished off the pier at night. Great place to launch boat. We took our kayaks and launched right there. The house has the best decor I have ever seen. We normally go to Destin Florida, but this place is our new Destin. Has any and everything and its priced better than any other beach house down there. Owners very very easy to deal with and I received my deposit promptly like they said that they would.
I love the Pelican Roost...we had three family members join us thru the week and then the weekend the two adult children came down. We laughed, cooked together, fished, shopping...the GREATEST VACATION we have had in a very long time.

Great place to relax in Rockport

5 of 5
Submitted: November 2, 2010 Stayed: October 2010
My parents and I rented this house for a long fishing weekend in Rockport. It is a terrific rental. Well-laid out floorplan, giving everyone space to relax alone or enjoy each others company. Three big decks give you great places to watch the sunset, or just enjoy the outdoors. The inside of the home is well-decorated and the owners have thought of everything a vactionaer needs. If you are a boater, this is a great rental to dock your boat, clean your fish and has easy access to some great "fishing holes".
The owners are a delight to work with. Very professional--great communication, easy rental process and timely deposit return. They genuinely want you to have a good time staying in their home.
We will be back!

Let's Go Fishing

Let's Go Fishing

My wife and I stayed here for a week and really had a good time. This home does not seem like a rental home but more like home. The house is very nice and you could imagine living here forever! We wanted to stay near Estes Flats which is a great fishing area where we could bring our boat and park it behind the house. Nice not having to take your boat out of the water everyday! The Bahia Bay channel exits right on Estes Flats and coming and going to and from the house takes minutes. Just outside the channel entrance to the south are two small islands that are a great place to fish and would be easy to kayak to as well. There is a nice little sandy beach on one of the islands if you just want to hang out. Caught lots of fish, reds, trout, drum and of course a few hardheads. Saw some huge trout at night under the lights, neighbor said around 3am is the best time to try to catch them as they are spooky earlier than that. Thanks Betsy for taking such good care of us!
