Our family and our friends completely enjoyed ourselves over the Christmas/New Year break this year! The house is beautiful, and the view is amazing! Its hard to believe this is a rental house, as the attention to detail and quality of the house and furnishings are nicer than what I have in my own home!

The second level of the house is fantastic for the kids! They had a completely separate area for enjoying movies and video games, and we could enjoy the peace and quiet on the main level.

The snowmobiling is fantastic! We could not snowmobile on the lake yet as the ice was not safe, but the access trail to the main trail was perfect and so much fun! The trails in Pittsburg are fantastic, and the local restaurants are fun to snowmobile to as well!

We had a terrific stay, and Pamela could not be more responsive and helpful! We will certainly be back again!

As I'm writing this, I find I'm having a hard time pinpointing exactly what it is about Ambrose Lodge that we love so much. There are so many great things about it. We love the seamless blend of rustic decoration and modern amenities. We love that there's ample room for activities and games, or for just cuddling up and watching a movie. We love the quiet seclusion. There's never anyone driving by, and we don't hear the trucks along route 3. All these things are wonderful, but what really makes our vacation perfect is indescribable. There's a feeling of serenity when we're out by the lake at night, with a drink in hand, surrounded by loved ones. The only sounds are the occasional loon, the crackle of the fire, and light-hearted conversation. It's peaceful beyond words. For one month a year, we rent a house, but it certainly feels an awful lot like home.

We had a fantastic time at the Ambrose Lodge - the view of the lake should be placed on a postcard. Pamela provides everything needed to spend an enjoyable and comfortable week at the lake. Very much looking forward to going back with the family next year. Thank YOU Pamela for sharing your beautiful home.

Thank you Pam and Ed for another wonderful vacation. This is our second time vacationing at Ambrose Lodge and have to say this is our favorite by far. The home is beautiful in and out. So much detail to the decour to make you feel right at home. The privacy of the great outdoors surrounded by First Connecticut lake and wooded lot. Nice yard for outside games. The wiid life is all everywhere. Moose, deer, fox, rabbits and plenty of wild turkeys . We highly recommend Ambrose Lodge to everyone that wants a spectacular vacation in the North Country. We did not dine out because we perferred to eat right here. They have some wonderful restaurants close by if you wish to.

This immaculate, elegant and well appointed cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. Clothing and food are all you need to bring because everything else you might need or want is provided. The only thing we wished for that was not there was binoculars-so bring those. The house neither looks nor feels like a rental. It is obvious that the owner has put much thought into providing renters with maximum comfort, relaxation and fun. The beds were so comfy that I looked forward each night to climbing under the covers and listening for the loons.
The view of 1st Conn Lake from the house is awesome as is the unspoiled natural beauty of the area. It is remote up there-the most remote place I've ever been - so be prepared for that. If you want to explore the surrounding area [Dixville Notch and Beaver Falls were our favorites] you will be doing quite a but of driving. In Pittsburg there are numerous lakes, logging roads and trails to explore. The local folks are friendly and full of tips re what to do and see.
It was very quiet up there during our stay, which was between snow season and the summer vacationers. Some days we only saw one or two other cars on a 25 mile drive along Moose Alley. We did see moose, deer, porcupines, snowshoe hares and a fox along with lots of more common little critters and birds.
We found the owner to be responsive, communicative, very professional and genuinely concerned that we have an enjoyable and memorable stay. I can highly recommend this rental.

We stayed at Ambrose Lodge for our snowmobile trip. It was absolutely wonderful. The riding was great. The Lodge is everything it says it is and more. We stayed here last year and could not wait to come back again. Enjoyed Murphy's Steak house, watching the sleds race across the lake, and grilled out on the front deck. The hosts are great people who have a genuine concern for our stay. We use to live in the area and vacationed at 1st lake often. No doubt, this is the best place in the northern lakes area.

This was the best snowmobile vacation our group has had! As soon as you pull into the property you can tell it is very snowmobile freindly, there was plenty of parking for our 4 trucks and snowmobile trailers in the upper parking lot, with more room to spare. The house was better than described and the layout was awesome. There was plenty of room in the house for our group of six guys and all our snowmobile gear. The owners were great to deal with and they literally provide all the amenities you would have at home like dishes, towels, cookware, etc. The view of the lake from the upstairs great room is awesome and you can watch the snowmobiles race across first lake! We rode about 120 miles each day we were there and the trails were in great shape. I have been going snowmobiling in Pittsburg for over 11 years and have stayed at a lot of places and this house by far is the nicest accomidations our group has vacationed at. We look forward to staying here in the future and putting some more miles on our sleds!
