Where to Eat: While in Huatulco, try typical Oaxacan cuisine, one of the most exquisite in Mexico. You will find three fine restaurants at the hotel offering international and Mexican delicacies:
Azul Profundo
Japanese-Mexican cuisine with a French accent, a romantic gastronomic experience on the beach under the stars in the sky.
Chez Binni
The most select dishes from the international cuisine with a delicate regional touch plus the Nouvelle Cuisine from Oaxaca.
Club De Playa
The freshest seafood and region’s specialties. It features a private pool and a magnificent view of the Tangolunda Bay.
Bel La Grill
Another fantastic view of the bay. Traditional American & Mexican buffet breakfast.
There is also a very good Las Cupulas restaurant at a nearby Quinta Real hotel (a 15 minute walk or 5 minutes by taxi). Serves international and regional cuisine indoors or on the terrace overlooking the bay. Breathtaking view.
The most Eastern bay is Conejos Bay. You will find there a small restaurant where you can enjoy simple fresh seafood, and a cold beer. You can walk across the short ridge and snorkel on Playa Maguey. There is a beautiful coral reef and rock formations. This small bay is lined with restaurants and palapas.
Oregano, Cacaluta with high sand dunes, and Chachacual bays are undeveloped, accessed only by boat or hiking. According to the development plan much of this area will remain in its natural state.
San Augustin is the most Western bay. It can be accessed only by boat or dirt road. Many reefs make it ideal for diving.
Activities: Snorkeling
A very good snorkeling is at La Entrega beach, but almost everywhere along the coast you will find coral reefs and rich marine life to give you an unforgettable snorkeling experience. San Augustin, Chahue and Maguey bays are particularly good.
Deep Sea Fishing
Yellowfin tuna and big mahi-mahi (dorado, bull-dolphin) season is from the end of November until March. Then until the end of May the fishing is slower, but still good. You can catch mahi-mahi, wahoo, smaller yellowfin tuna. Sailfish season starts in June and peaks in July and August. July is also good for blue marlin that you can catch just about 5 miles from shore.
Scuba Diving
Cacaluta Bay and La Montosa Reefs, El Tigre and the sunken ship at El Bufadero are excellent spots for diving.
