This was our first time trying a vacation rental property instead of a hotel, and boy are we happy with our decision! The owner/renter is great, the rental property is great, and we'll never stay in a hotel ever, ever again if we have a choice. For a fraction of the hotel price you get a multiple of the floor/room space and amenities -- it's really a no-brainer. If we're ever back in Boston, we know exactly where we are staying! We'd likely even reschedule any future vacations we take around the availability of this place if it came down to it -- it's that good! Thanks M.!!!

Our family of 6 stayed in this nice house for 4 days. Prior to arriving Mariana did an excellent job touching base w/ us to let us know about the property and whether or not she received our payment. The property is in a safe neighborhood. We liked being able to park on the street and being able to walk to a nearby restaurant when we arrived. We have 4 children who are ages 11, 10, 7 and 4 yrs old and there was more than enough space for us. Mariana does a great job w/ providing info about the area in a binder. She had discount cards for the T, menu's and even some coupons for museums (important to check out before you head to visit museums - check out the literature on the underneath part of the coffee table). The property was clean and as shown in the pictures. Since it rained all weekend we drove just about everywhere we went, we a group of 6 it might cost as much as public transportation. There are several museums to visit in the Boston area and we got to experience a few of them. Mariana even called us the day we were leaving to make sure everything went well. We loved our stay in this residential neigbourhood in a nice, quite street just off Centre Street Jamaica Plains , where you can find good places to eat and every shop you need. Easy transport to the city center by bus. (or metro,10 mins walk)

The appartment was good for the price, but not luxury. With 4, we had lots of space inside and at the 2 balconies. Some curtains were missing in a bedroom and there only 4 towels for 4 nights.

Relaxing stay in funky part of Boston (JP)

We stayed here for over a week in August with a 2 1/2 year old and a 7 month old. We were not hot despite some 95 degree days. There are two “grownup” bedrooms, plus one with bunkbed and baby equipment (we brought our own too) and one playroom / TV room which also has a pull out couch; plus a living room, a dining room and a kitchen with yet another table.
It’s a great place to relax and gather with family or friends. There is a very nice playground literally across the street (new) which is at an elementary school (which was not in session in August). Parking on the street is easy and there is a Whole Foods a couple blocks over. We also walked 20 minutes to a busy tot playground, 10 minutes to JP Licks (ice cream) and to the grassy areas around the pond.
JP is not Boston Proper. When we went to Boston itself-to the Frog Pond/Public Gardens/Common- and Children’s museum, we did not take public transport. Instead we drove the 30 minutes and parked. Driving and parking in Boston is notoriously difficult but still we find it better than the subway with little kids (we live in NYC for context where the subway is much faster so maybe we are just impatient!).
We originally chose the place because of the many posted comments about the owners responsiveness and willingness to handle repairs and questions and that has definitely been our experience as well. The booking process was smooth and hassle free which we really value (given especially all the other hassles involved in traveling with little kids!)
Negatives:
We did unfortunately have a number of minor problems like multiple light bulbs out, drainage problems with the sinks, intermittent internet access- all of which were promptly attended to (though not always solved). These kinds of challenges are not surprising in this older building type common in Massachusetts.
The kitchen utensils cover the basics but cooks might have to purchase some things over at Whole Foods.
There is a steep somewhat treacherous staircase that would be a problem for crawlers and toddlers too little to heed “stop!” (there is a door you can close). And someone has to carry your luggage up to the second floor.

The location is great. easy to get into Boston, and easy to get out to see suroundings. The apartment is very spacious, we are a family of 5 and it worked great. the pictures on site need to be updated, and the apartment could use some renovations, the internet was unstable...but over all, a good and confortable place. Marina is very helpful and prompt in her responses. it was a pleasure dealing with her.

We really enjoyed our stay! It is a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants, stores, and public transportation close to the house. There was plenty of room for my family of 5.

Stayed 4 nights over the Patriots Day weekend and the accommodation worked very well for our party that grew in size unexpectedly to eight just prior to our arrival. Mariana was very supportive and quick to respond to changes in our arrangements. We had 2 sleeping in each of the main bedrooms; 3 in the bunk bedded room (with a 7 year old on a self provided sleeping mat); and an adult on the futon in the 4th bedroom (which is also the sun room/ tv room). We spent more time in JP than downtown and loved it - great pubs/ bars (Behans); Ice Cream (JP Licks); Burgers (Grass Fed); and Cuban sandwiches (El Oriental de Cuba). Also enjoyed walking the pond and Arboretum. Although some might be able to walk to Fenway we would have found it a challenge and driving and easy parking off Longwood Avenue worked very well ($7 for the game). No major issues but lock on the bathroom would be a minor enhancement; and tv in the smaller room meant although it could be blocked off well it would be hard for more than 3-4 to watch at once (but if visiting JP/ Boston then why stay in watching TV?).

The apartment is immaculate, and it's wonderfully well located, not just close to the T, but literally across the street from a bus stop. We are only sorry that we didn't have time to explore JP a little bit more.

Here's how much we loved the apartment and our stay--our last day we were looking up availability for the summer and were all saddened to see the apartment is pretty much all booked up already! But we hope to stay there again sometime.
