addendum to previous review

I wanted to add (but forgot to in my last post) that the place itself has very thin insulation, so know up front that you will definitely hear your neighbors. For us it wasn't a problem because I knew our kids were making their share of noise, but you could hear the kids above us running and bouncing balls, etc. At night, we could hear snoring from the condo next to us. Also, the wireless internet is spotty. Otherwise, like I said in my previous review, the condo was very nice and comfortable, and we enjoyed staying in it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words about our condo. We recently completed a comprehensive renovation that included all new furnishings. We invested considerable resources in it, and we're glad to have guests enjoy it! Regarding your other comments, I've done some research and can offer the following:
Both Sanibel and Sandalfoot in particular are a family friendly destination. In fact, the majority of Sanibel's and Sandalfoot's guests have children with them. Most of the condos on Sanibel have pool rules that restrict radios and pool toys - so that all guests can relax and enjoy the pool area. Diapers are not allowed around the pool for sanitary reasons. Radios, toys and children in diapers are all freely allowed on Sanibel's beaches, just steps from the pool.
Those familiar with Sanibel may know we have especially rigorous construction codes - as the buildings must withstand hurricane force winds. The walls between units are 8" masonry concrete (generally sound deadening). The floors above our unit are 8" thick precast concrete which can transmit noise in rare cases (jumping up and down, hammering, etc). Because of this, we rarely have noise complaints, but we're sorry to hear about your experience.
I spoke with the manager of Sanibel Spirits, the liquor store located next to Jerry's. Children are always welcome in his store, and generally permitted to wander the store with their parents. He remembered your incident, and said one of your children was running around the store unescorted (literally running), and because of that, he asked that your child remain at the front of the store.
We're glad to provide any guest a list of our favorite children's activities on the island. Here's a sampling so readers can be reassured: World famous shelling, 25 miles of bike paths, take a guided Segway Tour, visit the amazing birds at Periwinkle Park or the Parrots at Jerry's, take a ride around the island on the Sanibel Thriller, a boat ride to Cayo Costa, or try a Wildlife Adventure Cruise. Take the Ding Darling Tram tour and go canoeing in Tarpon Bay (and let the kids visit the Touch Tank). Attend the Sanibel Sea School. For other fun places for kids to eat, you might try the Island Cow (huge menu), Schnapper's (great hot dogs), Matzaluna (great pizza), The Hungry Heron, Bailey's Bakery (kids get a free cookie), and Pinocchio's (ice cream).
Thanks again for visiting Sanibel Island, for staying with us, and for offering such kind words about our unit!
