Wonderful New Years
We just came back from spending New Year's at this lodge. First off, it is an Inn, so your room actually looks like a hotel suite. Private bathrooms were pricelss in getting us onto the slopes early. Also, the pictures don't do it justice, it is much larger in real life. It has a front bar/living room with two TVs that is secluded from the rest of the house, which we used for karaoke purposes; front living room with an enormous flatscreen and couches; dining room that comfortably sits 16; industrial kitchen where 5 people can cook without getting in each other's way and a huge wrap around balcony.
When we first walked in I was a bit upset about the lack of rustic charm one gets when renting houses, but once we settled in the advantages became overwhelming. Since we got rained out and could not go skiing 17 of us managed to comfortably dissipate in the house with people playing pool downstairs, watching football on that huge TV, playing board-games and Wii, with the rest sleeping - all of that accomplished simultaneously.
It is a very short drive to the slopes and trail heads, which we enjoyed. Also, we were a bit skeptical about the presence of a caretaker. But he only showed up to first welcome us to the house and then check that the front door is locked at night and to pick up garbage, then for the final walk through. Alex also went out of his way to beautifully decorate the place and has been a joy to talk to!
We are in love with the house and are definitely coming back again, especially since the owner is in the process of installing a hot tub and a sauna.
