It was very easy to coordinate arrangements for the house and the owner was flexible on our arrival time. The house was a perfect size for our group of 7. It would be nice to have curtains or shades covering the windows in the 4th bedroom. Was easy to walk to SoCo where you find a wide range of restaurants.

This short weekend stay was not nearly long enough. We were attending a wedding and had so many events to attend, we did not have nearly enough time to relax and enjoy the house. There was more than enough room for us, our children and grandchildren. Probably could have used another bathroom, but we all made it with no trouble. Everything is so comfortable, beautiful and serene at this wonderful house. Beds were great. The kitchen, breakfast room and dining rooms were very accommodating. Having two living areas was a great help, so everyone had a space in the house. The outdoor terraces were probably everybody's favorite gathering places. At night we would gather on the 2nd story terrace to enjoy Austin's skyline and the stars. In the mornings we all gathered for coffee and conversation on the back covered porch. Got to enjoy a stroll on the wooded paths through the property. The property is located close to downtown,
I-35 and many other venues. Celebrated oldest granddaughter's birthday also. We all had such a great time, everyone wants to come back this summer to enjoy all of the summer activities in the area and be able to stay in this beautiful historic home again. Owners were very accommodating. So much better to have gotten to be together in this wonderful house instead of in separate hotel rooms in Austin.

Convenience is not over-rated. Why stay downtown in a hotel near all the chaos, when you can rent a 1929 built historical home built on 6 lots?

My friends and I opted to rent this house and everything was as advertised. There is a definite "wow" factor when you arrive.

It is extremely spacious and each room has a different look.

We loved our stay! The house was beautiful, as well as the grounds, and there was plenty of room for our group. The views of downtown from several areas of the house are spectacular! Beds are comfy too! The second floor outdoor patio is so fun - outside and surrounded by the tops of trees - really cool and secluded feeling. Looking forward to our next stay!

My family and I had a wonderful time in Austin. We stayed at the Reuter House which was the perfect location for us. Close to downtown, football fields, shopping, golf course and the neighbourhood pool. The house itself had everything we needed. Amazing views of the city from the roof top terrace. Jennie was very helpful if we needed anything. Loved the kitchen and the main living area was where we spent a lot of our time. Would defintely recommend it and would stay again.

Beautiful Historical Home

My husband and I recently stayed at the Rosedale House for two nights. The second night we hosted a party for 31 of our friends. The house is a beautiful venue for a party. The terrance overlooks the the skyline of downtown Austin and is the most wonderful site daytime, or at night with all the lights on the buildings. (One of the bedrooms also has the skyline view.) We happened to be luck enough to have a full moon that weekend, which was an added bonus. The house has many conversation areas throughout the interiior of the structure, as well as outside. The furnishings are lovely and modern and the beds are very comfortable. Even though the house is in a neighborhood, it was very quiet and oh, so comfortable. All of our friends loved spending time at such a beautiful historical home. All you need is your toothbrush!

GREAT TIME IN AUSTIN FOR GROUP OF 7 ADULTS!!

We choose Austin as our destination for a Family Vacation for Christmas.
The Rueter Home was very elegant and roomy. We did all the fun things including singing on the Karoke Machine in the living room and listening to music at the local Clubs. We went to Contiental CLub and Jinnys Longhorn Saloon + the Famous Antones. We were about 1 mile to the local Vintage Stores and sites. Also ate at Speggitti Warhouse and made dinner at the home 2 nights. Benny the caretaker was even given one of our Mexican meals on Christmas Night. He and Jenny suggested all of the places and more!
We even had time to go to the River Walk in San Antonio which is only 1 hour drive from the house.
All in all we would recommend this home to anyone.

My family and I stayed at the Reuter House last year, and are booking it again. When I was on the website I noticed the review from the lady in Florida. She does not sound like a happy person in general. Our stay was great. It is a wonderful historic home with unbelievable character. Our kids loved exploring the grounds, and our favorite part were the two porches for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails. That has to be the best view of downtown Austin that there is. We also enjoyed Benny the caretaker, and hope he is still there. Not only was he helpful with anything we needed (including directions), but he also gave us an extra sense of security. If you dont want to stay at a hotel, and want lots of room, this is your place.

An Event House, Not a Home Away

1 of 5
Submitted: December 1, 2010 Stayed: November 2010
We spent Thanksgiving week at the home. I had to buy toilet paper, light bulbs, and a sponge. The linens were threadbare, pillows flat, down comforter had no duvet, pillows on king bed did not have pillowcases. We slept on the shams! There were about five bath towels, two washcloths, two hand towels. There was no DVD player and only one television in this large home. There were few lamps, mainly overhead lighting producing a garish glow. The king bedroom had one lamp, living room-one lamp, television room-one lamp. The seating in the room with the television consisted of 4 large chairs around a round coffee table so 2 chairs had their backs to the television. In general, there was very little furniture in the house-no dressers at all. The kitchen had no toaster, no blender, no baking dishes. The flatware was thin and cheap. The dish drainer (no dishwasher) was so flimsy, 3 glasses (there were only 6) placed there to dry randomly fell off and broke. The terrace was uninviting, furniture dirty. The only cleaning supplies were dish soap and laundry detergent. We were there a week and could not clean anything. I would not recommend this home to anyone. There was no attention to detail. No welcoming sign whatsoever. I'm sad. We paid a lot of money to spend the week there.
Owner's Response: Please read all our reviews. This is the first negative one we have ever received. Our listing is accurate and the house is "charming" and "original". TVs and Toasters were not represented as a big feature in our house. We have an onsite caretaker and not once was any request made for more toiletries, linens, or supplies, all of which we keep on hand on the property. No complaints or even any requests were made to us during the stay. We work very hard to accommodate any special requests, however we are not a bed and breakfast, we do not live on site, and the experience is all about history, location, trees, and the amazing views from the house. This is not the Four Seasons, it's right down the street though. If you read our other reviews and like what you hear I don't think you will be disappointed. Just call if you have any questions. Were happy to answer them. Randy/Owner
