The title sums up all that needs to be said. We had planned a family vacation to Los Angeles but needed a place for about 8-9 people to stay. Upon finding this property and reading the reviews, we decided it looked like a great option. Luckily both the chateau as well as the cottage were available, so we decided this was the spot. We could not have been more correct. The property is absolutely spectacular; waterfalls, flowering plants, and peacefulness abound.

On top of the beauty of the property, the residents could not have been more welcoming and kind to our family and friends. Upon arrival the refrigerator was full of food and drinks for breakfast, as well as snack items for the rest of the day. We proceeded to spend multiple days with them poolside, and truly enjoyed ourselves. We have remained in contact and upon returning to Los Angeles, will not hesitate to rent the properties again.

Spending a few days at the Mountain Chateau brought on the desired effect of complete relaxation. Topanga canyon and the outlying areas offer up some of the most beautiful countryside in California, combined with the proximity to LA makes this one ideal getaway. Pool, Hot tub and a view of the ridge close the deal.

There's a dream-like quality to Don and Jerri's wonderful guest house situated on a hill overlooking their Topanga estate. The chateau is made from local timber and is in immaculately conserved condition. It's laden with authentic character and really nothing like the typical holiday let.

Jerri's passion for unusual artifacts and design make this a location like no other. You don't need any artificial stimulants to experience the surreal quality of their landscaped estate, beautiful pool, hot-tub and many many sculptures and curiosities tucked under every rock.

The owners are beyond charming and go to any lengths to take care of their guests. The whole experience is perfect for children who can spend hours in the pool or adults wanting to relax in a tranquil stunningly beautiful location. We totally recommend this secret hideaway.

My husband and I, along with our basset hound, spent Christmas and New Years Eve 2010 at this mountain chateau. The photos did accurately reflect the chateau, but didn't really do it justice. Everything was beautiful and well-maintained. Jerri and Don went out of their way to welcome us.They had a beautiful Christmas tree decorated especially for us, along with welcoming gifts. Several times Don had to come up for various reasons, to teach us how to use the remote control for the TV, to show us where to park, etc., and he did so each time with grace and gentility. Jules even got the royal treatment! The property cannot be described accurately; enchanting is the word that comes to mind. My husband hiked all over Topanga and Santa Monica, and Jules and I relaxed in the chateau. I spent a few hours in Jerri and Don's house on Christmas Eve...it was a Christmas wonderland, and they are gracious and friendly hosts. We were even invited to Christmas dinner and New Years Eve! They definitely went above and beyond the call of duty as landlords.

Besides the unusually rainy weather, over which our wonderful hosts had no control, we couldn't have asked for a nicer vacation spot, or nicer temporarily landlords. When I left, I told Don that I could be happy living in the chateau. A charming and calming place, it's probably even better when the weather allows the gorgeous pool and spa to be used.

I would recommend this vacation spot to anyone. I'll never forget our time there.

My wife and I had occasion to travel to the LA area for two weeks recently... after spending a few nights in a dreary (but high-end and high-priced) corporate hotel, we did a bit of searching on line and came across Jerri and Don's listing of their "secluded mountain chateau". What a delightful alternative to the hotel! We could not have been happier with the accommodations or better treated by our gracious hosts. The listing is completely accurate and the pictures on the site actually understate the beauty and privacy of the property. Jerri and Don were so attuned to our needs, ensuring that we were completely comfortable throughout our stay and offering cheerful company when we sought it out but total privacy otherwise.

The rental was an excellent value as well, particularly when you consider that this beautiful chateau, with its well-equipped kitchen also includes phone service, internet, cable, movies, parking, etc. We clearly saved money - and had a MUCH more pleasant stay than we would have had we stayed in the hotel. It would be difficult to imagine a more private, luxurious or beautifully landscaped pool and hot tub... not to mention the comfortable lounges, fluffy towels, a gas grill, etc., etc., etc.!

The town of Topanga is so pleasant, with some wonderful restaurants, and a very reasonable drive to the beaches and all the points we needed to be in LA.

The views are magnificent and the home is quite simply extraordinarily spacious and well-equipped. This property has my highest recommendation and I am so grateful to have found wonderful new friends in our hosts.
