I would definitely recommend Emerald House to anyone for a stay in Istanbul. The house is great but even better is the location; it is so close to the major attractions and restaurants yet in a very quiet street. There is so much to see close by that I hope to go back one day and finish my exploration of the city.
We had a great trip to Istanbul and really enjoyed staying in the Emerald House. The listing of the flat was 100% accurate. The house was very clean and the beds very comfortable, there were only 5 of us so we did not use the sofa beds in the living room. Everything worked in the house and most of the appliances seemed nearly new. We were there in December and so we used the heating, the house was lovely and warm even though it was cold outside.
The view from the living room over the Topkapi palace and the Bosporus towards asia is amazing especially at night when the suspension bridge is lit up. The house is in a quiet street with no noise, even on New Year's Eve.
The area felt very safe and we were happy to walk around in the evening.

The booking process was straight forward and the owners were very helpful and replied quickly to my emails and made planning the trip easy. The owners organised shuttles for us to and from the airport. The shuttle was in a minivan with plenty of room for 5 plus luggage. The shuttle was prompt and made life much easier for us.
When we arrived at the house one of the owners was there and showed us round the house and explained everything we needed to know, then he took us on a short walk where he showed us the small super market and pointed out a couple of restaurants he recommends.

Some of the places we visited were: Hagia Sophia (5 mins); Topkapi Palace (10 mins); Yerebatan? Cistern (5 mins); the Blue Mosque (10 mins) and the grand bazaar (15 mins).
There is a huge choice of restaurants and bars within a 15 minute walk of the house. There are also small supermarkets and coffee shops within 5 minutes of the house.

It is all about location with this property as it is very close to all the famous things to see in the old part of Istanbul. The owners are also very friendly and helpful, they met us at check in and when we left and arranged taxis transfers for us.
The place was very clean and tidy and served for our purposes quite well.

It was a very pleasant house, very close to the aya Sofia etc. We were in the house with 5 people. More should have been less comfortable. The bathroom at the first floor is only a toilet with a shower, so we didn't used it. The bathroom at the groundfloor ia perfect. The other parts of the house are also perfect. The 2 stairs to the livingroom is a good exercise :-), but.. when you are there you will have a marvellous view to the Bosporus.
If we will come to Istanbul again, we certainly will stay in this convenient house.

Emerald House was clean, convenient to the tourist attractions of Istanbul and had all the facilities we required. I was very happy with our holiday house and I would recommend it to others.

We spent 5 lovely days at the Emerald house. The location manages to be both private and central at the same time. It is a 5 minute walk to the aya Sofia, 10 minutes to the Blue Mosque and to the tram that goes to all the tourist sites. Yet it is on a charming little cul de sac that gets little traffic. Yet, it is safe, because it is across from a nice hotel and next to a government building with a 24 hour security guard. There were wonderful restaurants within 10 minutes walk - some were just down the block. We bought our morning pastries from a vendor down the street and ate them in the living room with a view of the Bosphorus and Topkapi Palace. The beds were firm and comfortable - even the sofabed in the living room.

There were views from several rooms. If you want accomodations with a view in Istanbul you either 1) pay $$$ for a view; or 2) walk up 4-5 flights of stairs for one. Emerald House offers very nice views at a reasonable price and only 1-2 flights of stairs. This is truly unusual.

The owners are incredibly nice - they answered dozens of emails with unfailing patience. And when one of us became accidentally locked in the house they got someone over to open up the door within 15 minutes of the phone call. Their English is perfect and they are happy to make recommendations to make your stay in Istanbul more enjoyable.

We loved staying here - and as 5 women travelling, we felt fairly safe in the neighborhood. Some downsides: this is not a nightllife neighborhood - just restaurants, tho you are a 15 minute taxi ride away from Pera and the clubs.Of course, it is a lot less noisy and crowded then Pera. The bathrooms are clean but basic. The first floor (with bathroom and kitchen) is dark and a bit dank, but the upper two floors are light. Finally, the birds could get quite noisy, esp around dawn, and the government building has flood lights that go into the master bedroom. If you close the windows it is probably not so bad, but we kept them open for the breeze since we don't like air conditioning. If you need a dark quiet room either pick the back single bedroom or wear a mask/ear plugs.

We all loved Emerald House and I would recommend it highly.

This house was fantastic!!! It was very clean and well equipped. We are a family of four and we had everything we needed in the house. Having free wi-fi was really appreciated. The owners are so nice and helpful. Planning the trip was easy because we had great and practically instant communication with them. They arranged for an airport shuttle to and from the airport for us. Other than the shuttle, we could get to all of the amazing sights in Istanbul on foot because the location of Emerald House is perfect, so close to everything, sights, restaurants, grocery store, and shopping. We would definately recommend this property and we would stay there again!

The location of Emeral House is hard to beat. Close to all historical sites in old Istanbul, close to many restaurants and a supermarket.

The house is clean, fully equipped, wifi access and everything works.

The only drawback is that as the house is narrow it is unavoidable having to use the stairs quite a bit.

The owners are very friendly and helped us arranging the transport from and to the airport.

This was my first visit to Turkey - i had a 5 day working break in London and I have always wanted to go - the choice of where to stay. This flat is lovely - in the heart of the old city Galata. The famous Tower is 2 mins away. Kitchen ,comfortable bed and the sofa bed was fine as well. The apartment overlooks a lane with bars, restaurants - you feel in the heart of a new culture. The apartment is beautifully heated, full of character and I can hardly wait to go back. Zumrut and Hayri are bubbly hosts - respectful of your space but always on hand to answer and advise. Our pane was late - Hayri was there - he took us to a great lane way bar for our first night. Will return - nice people and Turkey is wonderful
