Photos and Description of the New Hope vacation cottage rental
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

A CLASSIC

The cottage, built in the late 1600’s, is a classic, where function defines form, where light and shadow create mood and atmosphere, where every nook and cranny provide its own adventure, where nature blends into everyday life… Perfect for the whole family, a quiet romantic getaway or to write the great American novel.

Cozy

The Cottage is cozy and charming with great attention to detail. The first floor contains the primary living quarters with a working fireplace, full kitchen, full bath, enclosed sun porch and full size comfortable futon bed/couch. Ascend a modest spiral staircase to the sleeping quarters with pitched roof, one full bed and two twin beds in a separate room.

In the spring and summer use the air conditioning or refresh in the gentle breezes that flow through open windows. In colder weather there is forced air heat or warm yourself with the working wood fireplace. Relax, explore… enjoy!

MUCH TO DO

Enjoy a quiet time on this private nature reserve: Visit the working farm, Hiking trails are everywhere, Fish in the nearby stream or just sit on the porch swing and watch nature and wildlife go by. Secluded yet close to everything from antiquing, horseback riding to casual or fine dining.

HISTORIC

Built mostly of red sandstone and shale, its 18” thick walls, deep-set windows, exposed hand-hewn beams and floors show 300 years of patina and history. Maintained in its original condition, “modern” amenities (indoor plumbing and heating, kitchen, summer porch) were added in 1941

Travel down an old one lane country road along the Little Neshaminy Creek. To a place where early settlers worked to forge a new nation, where in 1777 the Revolutionary War came to its door steps; to a place where Washington sent his officers to obtain supplies for 11,000 troupes camped in the nearby fields and woods.

TIMELESS

Travel back in time to the 17th century in this beautiful 1696 historic storybook cottage nestled in a 1000 acre private nature reserve, surround yourself in the endless beauty of nature. Situated on its own seven acre parcel, adjacent to the internationally renowned Ross Mill Farm, guests are welcome to visit this working farm.

ROSS MILL FARM

The cottage is adjacent to the Ross Mill Farm, an origional fieldstone Bucks County farm, (on the web as rossmillfarm ). Build between 1730 and 1750. Today it is still a working farm dedicated too the wellbeing of the miniature pet pig as a household companion pet. Guests are invited to visit the farm and its out buildings and to interact with this unique breed. Many of the Farm animals graze freely on the Farm and Cottage grounds. Guests will find them friendly, well mannered, clean and sociable.

Peaceful escape from the city

We stayed here for 3 days with our family, and it was wonderful. The cabin is amazing--so tiny but we slept comfortably with 4 adults and 3 children. Loved the pigs-especially Maxine, and Ben, the dog. Kids loved playing in the yard, riding bikes and short hikes in the woods. Owner is very friendly and the farm is fun! Easy travel to New Hope for shopping and restaurants.

We had a great time at the cottage, very cozy and cute. Susan was very nice, we love the pigs, especially Emerson and Louie. The dogs Ben and Magenta Rae greeted us every morning as well as a cute piggy in the yard in the morning. We will definitely go back.

Simplicity at its best...

Our return to the Cottage at Ross Mill Farm was as magical as our previous stays. Stepping back to a simpler time is easy in this rustic retreat where you feel like everything is perfectly in its moment. The changes in weather only added to the adventure. We always leave this place changed for the better, and have already planned a return trip. A great place to read (or write) a book, gather your thoughts, take a gentle hike along the creek or up the mountain, visit the always entertaining piggies on the farm, listen for the owls, watch the hawks glide, see the deer jump, star gaze, get cozy with your partner, enjoy a board game with your kids... A truly inspiring, magical and memorable place.

Fairy Tale Cottage was a Nightmare

I find it hard to believe that the travelers who gave this cottage five stars stayed at the same place I did. The pictures are deceiving! The smell of mold and mildew are overwhelming when you enter. I had no problem with the pig sanctuary. It was the ants and mice in the cottage that I didn't want for roommates. My respite was anything but. It was difficult to relax on the sofa because of the ants that were crawling on my arms (the cans of Raid should have been my first clue). There were also ants on the kitchen counter top along with mice droppings. The small fan in the living room was covered with black mold. I cut my stay short and headed for cleaner digs. The office manager did apologize for the ants and mice droppings and assumed I would understand that the wet and humid weather was driving the critters inside.....NOT! I have rented two properties from VRBO before: a beautiful lakehouse in Sharon, MA and an equally stunning House Boat in Quincy, MA. I am really disappointed with listing 266171. I would have had better accomodations in a tent in the woods. Renters beware!

Staying in a tiny cottage that's 315 years old is pretty amazing! The walls are 18 inches thick! Being able to bring my pet pig along was even better! Dog, cat, etc.---you can bring them with you and cuddle together in this charming secluded cottage 5 miles from Newtown. The wood stove was fun to build a fire in, and plenty of bed space. You may want to bring some video tapes for the VCR if you choose to watch TV, but if it's a nice day, there won't be any need for TV! We'll definitely do it again, thanks!

Lovely and really a home away from home with many personal touches. Just make sure you call the owner for precise directions, it can be a little tricky to find.

My husband and I have enjoyed several long stays at this historic cottage. Every time we're there, we step back in time, and our lives are changed by the experience. We have been humbled by the surroundings, serene yet fascinating, and the cottage has made us understand how simple life can be. We take these lessons into our world every time we depart from this magical place. As musican/writers, we can't recommend Ross Mill Farm and Cottage enough. What an inspiring place!

Perfect Romantic Getaway

Glorious quaint and bucolic. This cottage is everything it is advertised to be. Sitting on the porch on a crisp morning sipping tea with the sun glistening off the nearby creek was delightful. The pig farm was an unexpected delight. Susan, so polite and friendly especially with my special needs child, was the perfect hostess. The folks in 1690 must have been in pretty good shape to get up the narrow winding staircase. We plan to go back again to enjoy the peace and quiet.

The Perfect Get-Away Wedding Destination!

This secluded cottage offered our family and friends the perfects place for all our wants and needs to be be satisfied! The small historic house is set on a little hill just steps away from all the happenings at the pig rescue / farm. I never knew there could be so many varieties of pigs, and the people who care for the animals were nothing but pure kindness. Our kids and guests loved the pigs. We celebrated, cooked and had a small wedding on the hill near the rented cottage - there was nothing but quiet at night.
We loved the seclusion along with the ability to walk over to the little farm and roam with the animals.
I think I'll try to stop in at least once a year.

Wonderful Country Cottage and Farm

My husband and I stayed at the cottage at Ross Mill Farm and we so enjoyed it. The cottage was cozy and had all the amenities one needs and lacks all the amenities one needs lacking (such as internet, TV, although they do have one if you request.) We were charmed by the place, the cozy quilts, and wood and the great animals who came visiting us from the farm (Dogs and pigs stopped by for a hello).
The farm and cottage are on a gorgeous piece of land in the woods with trails and clearings. Richard and Susan were great hosts and we love their pot belly pig spa, boarding and adoption facility. We had an amazing time and we can't wait to go back.
