We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to St. Maarten. So many things to say:
1- First and foremost, Hema is top notch. She is so nice and helpful, that without her, your trip would be less enjoyable. Thank you Hema!
2- WE met the owner Georges and his wife-- they are good people.
Now about the villa:
1-Great location. I lived in St. Maarten for six years and left in 1997. Things have changed so much-- this villa is now in the hot spot location of St. M. You are in an area where there are great restaurants, casinos, boat excursions, access to groceries and minutes from the airport. Terrific. Traffic is heavy now on the island, and just staying here will give you a good proximity to most everything.
2-Gorgeous views. We spent every morning having coffee on the covered top floor deck. We could watch boats and ships go by. It was my favorite place.
3- The bedrooms are so comfortable and spacious. Bathrooms too. Both bedrooms in the main house are identical, so you will be comfortable.
4-Kitchen is well equipped, with up to date/new equipment and appliances. Ants are a problem on the island and after living there, I am used to keeping many things in the fridge that you wouldn't normally do in the US. And it takes them no time to appear, so stay on top of them!
5-There is no landline in the house. My advice to you if you are going is to talk with Hema about this. She can arrange a cell phone to use, but you will need to take it to a grocery store for a card for the phone. If you do not do this, calling anywhere is a big pain so make arrangements with her. And calls are expensive, so ten bucks won't buy you much!
6-There is a computer on the top floor of the house for you to use. It is great for looking up excursions and checking your email. If you want to book a boat trip, you can either have Hema arrange things for you, email the excursion on the computer, book from the US before you leave, or use the cell phone that you arrange with Hema.
7-The rooms are all air conditioned, the main top floor is not. There is a good breeze flow through, as there is an entire wall of glass doors that opens up to the covered deck. Wonderful! we ate out on the top floor deck as much as possible!
8-Make sure that when you are renting, you clarify with Georges or Hema what you plan to rent. In other words, there are two bedrooms with the main house. The way the house is arranged, you may or may not want the outside bedroom.
Owner's Response: Many thanks Lisa for your stay and to share your experience at PBV helping us to improve the villa. The living room upstair has now a strong AC, very easy to make FREE calls ( on regulars and cell phones US, Can,Europe), and for the traffic on the island a new hudge bridge on the lagoon will open on december 013 with an important result on the Simpson bay area.See you soon on the island!
