Palmetto Bay Plantation is an Eco-Friendly resort in the Bay Islands of Honduras. Continental and Delta fly non-stop from the states. The Island of Roatan is easily reached from US or Europe. The Island is a number 1 Diving area as the reef is so pristine! The reef is in a protected marine park, there is no fee, just don your gear and start snorkeling! You just walk right in, the reef is that close at West Bay Beach!
Please remember to bring eco-friendly sun block. This can be found on the Target website. It helps to preserve the reef and keep the fish bright and healthy.
Cactus Juice sun lotion is available and is a very good sun block and bug repellent.
There is a washer and dryer in the home.

My husband and I stayed here for a week in Feb. 2010. It was absolutely the most relaxing vacation we have ever had. We have traveled to many many Islands and this one is definately one of our favorites. The house is a short walk to the beach and set in a beautiful tropical garden. The beds were very comfortable and the ceiling fans kept us cool. There is no TV, radio or phone to distract you from the peaceful serenity of this resort. The restaurant has fabulous food and drinks including specials and Happy Hours! You will not meet a staff more friendly than here at Palmetto Bay. We enjoyed talking with them everyday!! We also took advantage of the shuttle service almost everyday to whereever we wanted to go for the same price as a rental car would've cost us per day and the best part was we didn't have to drive! We went to the supermarket and bought groceries to fix our own breakfast and lunch but really the cost of food was so reasonable at the restaurant it wasn't neccessary. We enjoyed snorkeling everyday and also had a couples massage out off the boat dock one afternoon. I give this vacation 5 stars!

I stayed here with my boyfriend. We really needed some time to get away and relax. His job is really stressful this wonderful place afforded us the time to be together and just relax. Loved the dive shop, so nice to have it right there! And the restaurant was fantastic too! The house was comfortable, the beds were great, and owner was very helpful. Answered all our questions and some we didnt ask! Please bring eco-friendly sunblock as this is an eco-friendly resort.

Total relaxation in an amazingly beautiful setting

The resort is staffed by friendly and very helpful people. I got to practice my Spanish with several members of the staff even though all office and wait staff spoke English. Dinner time was a fun Spanish lesson with my waiter.
As a woman traveling alone I felt very safe on Roatan and was always treated in a welcoming way.
The house itself was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The ceiling fans kept the house cool and I never used the air conditioning. Slept exceptionally well there. I spent hours on the front porch which was surrounded by beautiful trees and flowering plants.
The owner of the house was very helpful providing me with details about the property, transportation from the airport, etc.
I went to Roatan, mostly to relax and that I did. I made use of the pool, the beach, the hammocks at the end of the dock. Scuba trips and snorkeling were available right at the resort. Transport to any activity on the island could be arranged.
The food at the restaurant was excellent and the kitchen in my house allowed me to make meals for myself. Ask to stop at the grocery store on your way from the airport.
I loved the feeling of being in a small community in a beautiful culture, rather than at a big chain resort that has invaded the island. I look forward to returning.
