Photos and Description of the Quepos vacation cabin rental
Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 1-3)

Wild Orchids Estates overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the Southern Pacific Slope region of Costa Rica. Located in town called Londres about 30 minutes southeast of Quepos/Manuel Antonio. The house is surrounded by 20 acres of virgin forest. If you want to enjoy nature in a pristine and peaceful setting then this is the place to be. A bird lovers delight! Experience authentic Costa Rica. This is the real deal! Take a walk or go for a horseback ride on one of the area country roads. Have lunch or dinner at a nearby riverside restaurant. Take your bathing suit and go for a dip while you're there.

Matapalo beach with its sea turtle egg rescue and incubation program is just as close as Manuel Antonio(30 minutes) and NEVER crowded. Check out the beach front restaurant/bar at Hotel El Coquito while you're there.... it's a treat. Dominical beach with its laid back surfer vibe is about a 45 minute drive (15 minutes past Matapalo beach).

The owner lives on site and is a certified massage therapist and hydro-therapist. The charge for these services is not included in the rental fee.

Costa Rica is a developing country. We are trying to keep the 20 acres as virgin and pristine as possible. Please come and see for yourself!!

Thank You,

Wendy

We stayed three nights at Wild Orchid Estates in April 2013. Our main interest in the Quepos area was to visit Manuel Antonio National Park and the beaches. We arranged to meet the owner in Quepos so he could lead us to the cottage. The owner, Jose, was very nice and accommodating. His wife was visiting the U.S., so we did not get to meet her. We stopped for groceries on the way and arrived to an amazing, lovely vision. The main house where he and his wife live has a nice pool, which he welcomes visitors to use. It overlooks the forest and in the distance you can see the Pacific Ocean. The house is extremely nice, with all of the amenities you would need for an extended stay. The house has spacious one bedroom, a full kitchen and bathroom, a very large closet, and a nice sitting room. The porch is big and beautiful and has a table and chairs, a small couch and a nice hammock. There are bushes planted in front of the cottage that draw butterflies and humming birds. We saw two kinds of toucans and parrots in the early morning hours and a variety of other birds all day long. Jose has a variety of orchids around his property and I was amazed that there is a star fruit tree, which he said we could pick from (and I did)! He also has two dogs and a cat who are very sweet and kept us company during our time there. I would highly recommend staying at Wild Orchid Estates. It is a quiet, lovely and beautiful place and Jose is a wonderful host.

We just returned from Quepos after staying 5 nights - March 3- 8th/ 2012 at this secluded paradise. Jose and Wendy were very helpful and provided us with lots of information about the area. We loved every morning sitting out on the balcony with our morning coffee watching the toucans and birds, and in the evening listening to the sounds of the jungle.
We found Manual Antonio park very busy and had a guide, but next time would not use a guide as we were able to see everything with our binoculars and the crowds were all looking at the same sights. Just pay the 10 dollars US to enter the park, and pack a lunch.
Rent an all wheel drive for the dirt roads to the cabin - thrifty car rental was outstanding through vacationcity.com
We had a fantastic stay and the cabin was fully equiped with everything
Thank you Jose and Wendy for your hospitality

My husband and i spent 8 nights at this cabin over new years. The cabin and the property around it are absolutly beautiful, the scenery is breathtaking there are toucan birds all around that are so pretty. I only wish we spent more time at the cabin because we were always out exporing the beautiful country. But you definatly need your own vehicle its a bit of a rough drive to the cabin but the more you drive it it seems shorter. And Jose was so nice and helpful we really appreciated it! Have to say it is such a great deal to stay here ! Some of our favorite places to spend time at were Dominical which was about a 20 min drive and of course Manuel Antonio area. We miss the place already!!!!

What a perfect place to relax and enjoy the costa rican rain forest! The cabin is nestled on a high bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean to the west with no visible neighbors. My wife and I only got to spend two nights at this great little cabin but thoroughly enjoyed the lush jungle setting with an abundance of birds of every description. The cabin interior is very clean, well equipped , and the solid teak beams and natural trunk columns give it a cozy feel .....undeniably Costa Rican! The kingsize bed was very comfortable and closing up the shutters at night for AC was great but not necessary as the temperature was perfectly tepid and the bird sounds were great. The owner Jose could not have been more hospitable and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. The toucans were beautiful, and abundant especially near dusk. We will definitely be back for a longer stay in the near future! .

Jungle Paradise

Our stay at Jose and Wendy's cabina was enchanting. Everyday brought something new and exciting. The cabina is very comfortable and unique. It is hidden on one edge of the manicured grounds with many flowers and fruit trees and with a backdrop of magnificant jungle, wildlife, and ocean views. We watched a two toed Sloth and her baby feed in a tree 40 feet from our porch. Four Toucans came by everyday morning and evening. It is a bird watchers' delight. The central location of the cabina was perfect for our side trips to the beaches, mountains, and the Osa Pennisula. A quiet perfect place to relax by the pool with a view that is hard to beat. Jose, our cordial host, was extremely helpful and made our month stay very memorable.

A True Costa Rican Experience

Our stay in this lovely cabina was too short. Only 4 nights. It is everything listed and more. Nestled right in the hillside and surrounded by all kinds of trees and plant life. The photos don't do it justice. The mornings were the best. Toucans feeding in the trees, butterflies in the plants and flowers. Hummingbirds everywhere. The cabina had everything you needed. Very clean and fresh exotic flowers in every room! A full kitchen and comfortable sitting on the porch with a nice hammock. Perfect for the daily morning nature show. The bathroom was spacious, beautiful and plenty of hot water for the huge walk in shower. The master bedroom had a walk in closet and a very comfortable king bed. You could close the shutters and run the air conditioning if needed or keep the windows open and listen to the wild sounds of the jungle at night. The pools is a short trek and so worth it at the end of the day. The owners, Wendy and Jose were so gracious and nice. Great to talk to about things in the area to see and do. It was so helpful for our very short stay. We feel we saw and did so much due to their helpful information. They recommended Manuel Antonio national park and to see it with a guide. All the monkeys, sloths and small creature would have been missed if we didn't have a great guide. The beaches were quiet, nice and clean in the Quepos area. All the resturants Jose suggested were the best Costa rican food we ever eaten. You will need a vehicle that can stand the rough road up the hill to the cabina. I think it was 6 miles from Quepos but it felt like 20 miles of bad road. It was worked on over the course of our stay so it did improved. But for us, it was all part of the true Costa rican experience. This place is a gem of find. Highly recommended this place to anyone who wants to get away from all the touristy places and find some tranquility in nature. We hope to go back and stay much longer.

Warm friendly hosts. Clean, pleasant cabin. Spectacular views! Pool has a view too! Bird watching is incredible. Planned to stay for a week: stayed for a month! All the comforts of home. Rental car a must have. Not much to see or do in Londres. But a great base of operations when visiting this area.

Will send my friends here.

PERFECT!

We agree with everything in the previous comments. We rented this special cabina from January 1 to the 31, 2011. The cabina was perfect in every way. Clean; and well positioned on the beautiful property for privacy and for a fantastic view. Birds and butterflies abounded. Our hosts were gracious and kind; they are the type of people that you want as friends. Assistance provided by Jose and Wendy exceeded all our expectations. My wife missed her connecting flight from San Jose to Quepos, I spoke with Jose and within a few minutes he had arranged to have her picked up at the airport and driven to Quepos. The driver was excellent and spoke perfect English. We also woke up one morning to a completely flat tire and we had commitments in Quepos. No problem, Wendy arranged for the tire to be taken off, repaired and re-installed, all within an hour and at a low cost. Jose and Wendy are a wealth of information regarding local restaurants and places of interest….ask about the road to the waterfall, if you want a true Costa Rican rural experience. Jose and Wendy, we just got back and we can’t wait to see you both next year!

Owner's Response: Peter and Colleen,

You have said so many great things about our property!! Thank you!!!
We know that you really enjoyed the birds and buttrerflies, they are really great to watch.
Peter, you found the back roads better than I can!! Opening yourself up to many new destinations from the "base of operations", that another guest of our´s calls the wild orchid estates, kinda cool huh..
You two had some great adventures, and we can´t wait to see you again next year.

Have a great summer,

Jose and Wendy

Wild Orchids Estate Cabina ~ Hidden Treasure!

My husband & I feel we were extremely fortunate to find this absolute "Hidden Gem" to call home for a week while we toured the southwest side of Costa Rica last July. The cabina was very clean and well maintained. We typically left in the morning for our adventures and to see all we could in this tropical paradise then would return before dark to just kick back in our incredibly charming cabina (even more gorgeous than the pictures) or would return when the rain started just to relax and hang out on the beautiful lanai/porch with hammock/table & chairs et and watch the occasional lightening shows. The photos and description listed are accurate although may not do this awesome property justice. There is a beautiful huge wood remote controlled gate when you enter the property ~ we always felt very comfortable and safe. The beautiful shared infinity pool is actually not next to the cabina but very close by ~ behind the owners home~ and is kept wonderfully clean and inviting. We used it several times and the view is breath taking! The kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances/tools we needed & there is also a huge walk in closet in the master bedroom. You definitely need a vehicle ~ we had a 4WD small SUV ~ and the road was being worked on but we never had any problems and enjoyed the adventure of the drive itself. The surroundings were so pretty. We had a group of 6 toucans that came to see us everyday. There are beautiful butterflies, orchids, many varieties of birds, colorful flora everywhere. You definitely could just stay here and watch the wild life. Very private and relaxing. The owners ~Wendy & Jose~ were extremely helpful with absolutely everything from the initial questions ~ through the booking~met us in Quepos to drive up to the cabina ~ and throughout our entire stay. They are a wonderful couple and we would highly recommend this property to our friends and relatives. Although it is a little bit of a drive if you plan to go into town/touring often ~ after we saw the other hotels and lodging while we were driving around ~ I know there is nothing even close to as nice as this property for the price in this whole area that we saw. There is a lot to do in this area of Costa Rica. We drove throughout all of CR and this was our favorite part of our 2 week adventure. Wonderful place to stay ~ friendly, helpful, fun owners...doesn't get much better than this! Hope to return someday!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! Miss you both!
