To do or not to do...that is the question!: This home can offer a laid back lakeside vacation of days filled kayaking, swimming from either our private dock or semi private beach, reading in a hammock or sitting by a crackling fire as the sun sets. At the same time you are a boat or car ride away from all kinds of activities. There is historic Wolfeboro as well as Meredith Bay which both offer ample public boat docking to allow for a meal and shopping or antiquing in either areas. Both areas abound with local events such as fairs, musical events, and antique boat races. In early September the antique steamship parade passes right past this property, with additional daily sightings of these vintage ships as they enjoy the local waters for their annual week long gathering on Lake Winnepesaukee. Continue on your boat or car ride to the historic Weirs Beach and enjoy all the fun and honky tonk of bumper cars, a penny arcade , fortune tellers, and your fill of pizza, cotton candy and more. Cruise on the historic Mt. Washington.
For the Nature Lover: Kayak or canoe early in the morning or just before sunset and you will share the lake with the beauty and haunting sounds of the loons. They even have their own nature center with walking trails and gift shop right in Moultonborough. The hiking in the area is rich and able to accommodate all levels of hiker. In particular the nearby Red Hill and Rattlesnake trails offers beautiful panoramic views of Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee. The lakeside porch offers views of the famous 'Castle in the Clouds.' The Castle offers walking trails, horseback riding and tours of the castle with pre-tour lectures by the local historical society.
For those who like to eat!: In addition to having all you need to create the gourmet meals of your choice (which is easy with several area local grocers who cater to discerning palates), there are a multitude of restaurants for both family and adult dining, and all of which offer their own take on what makes New Hampshire and New England dining special.
If you like the idea of dinner and a show, this is possible too as the Interlakes High School in neighboring Meredith offers professional summer stock musicals throughout the summer on its well appointed stage.
And while not on the ocean, Moultonborough has a number of areas grocers and seasonal seafood retailers that will be sure to fill any need for Maine lobsters or fresh saltwater fish and shellfish. There is also a local winner connoisseur Bon Apetit!
