Curtis and Myrtle Penn, natives of St. John. Over 25 years experience hotel hospitality and vacation property management. Curtis Asst. Manager at Caribbean Villas & Resorts Management St. John and Myrtle Human Resources coordinator at the Westin Resort St. John. Currently reside on St. John just up the hill from Bombalassy.
Curtis Penn purchased this villa in 2007
We actually built Bombalassy at it's location on St. John because is the most beautiful property to be able to enjoy the peaceful intimacy of the Great Cruz Bay harbor and a perfect vantage point to the many highlights St. John has to offer.

Just stayed at villa bombalassy for 10 days in March and it was outstanding the views were breathtaking the villa was very clean perfect for two couples minutes from downtown. We loved the outdoor shower nice touch. Looking forward to going back next year. Thanks Myrtle and Curtis.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bombalassy! This is our 7th time to St. John and have always stayed in a hotel. You both made it so easy! The process was seamless, the home and furnishings beautiful! We have alread recommended to lots of friends! :-) The island is our favorite! Hope to see you again soon!

This place could not have been any better...it is located overlooking Great Cruz Bay and the Westin. Curtis and Myrtle are tremendous hosts, meeting you off the ferry and escorting you to your getaway. The views are fantastic, and the patio and pool are private. The private outdoor showers are the best!! The villa comes fully equiped with all the needs of home..fully stocked kitchen, gas BBQ grill, washer dryer, internet etc....we actually brought to much some stuff over from St Thomas...their guest are great and pay it forward with left spices, books and other supplies.
A jeep is a must for exploring the island. The pace is island time so do not be in a rush! Just like other islands, don't forget the bug spray...the bugs just love the tourists...
There are very few places I would venture back to in all my travels but this place definitely makes the list of places to return to.

Luxury villa at if its finest!

Words cannot describe how beautiful this place is. The pictures were a great preview but nothing could adequately describe the spectacular view from the balcony of the Pink Conch. We arrived to find the villa in immaculate condition. I spend many nights a year staying in hotels while traveling for work. The Pink Conch beats them all in terms of cleanliness and attention to detail. From the live potted plants to the dishes, towels, and furniture, we really felt like we were staying in the lap of luxury. Curtis and Myrtle have hit a grand slam with the Caribbean Sea Shells. They are masters of hospitality. Our only complaint was that our vacation ended too quickly! When staying at the Pink Conch, be prepared for two things: You will be blow away by the views and you won’t want to leave. You must have a rental car (Jeep)so plan it into your budget. Myrtle met us at the ferry with our Jeep and led us to the villa. The driveway leading to the villa is very steep but after a couple of trips down and back up I had it mastered. This place is perfect for two couples wanting luxury and privacy. I would not recommend Caribbean Sea Shells for families with small children as there is no direct beach access and limited children’s activities. Life on St. John operates at a leisurely pace. So go there, kick back, relax, and enjoy the view!

From the moment I ran across Bombalassy online, I knew I wanted to stay there. This was our 6th trip to the island and we've always stayed at the Westin. Curtis and Myrtle Penn were fantastic. The reservation process was seamless, communication was great, a great value for what we got, and an amazing location.
The property had everything we needed!! It is furnished beautifully, with top of the line everything and all the little things you could want from a vacation home! Beach chairs, cooler, pool, washer/dryer, outdoor shower, beach towels, games, books, bose stereo, LCD tv's and the most beautiful view of Great Cruz Bay. Myrtle picked us up from the ferry, had our rental jeep ready for us and then allowed us to be on our own for the rest of the trip. I would highly recommend this property and the Penn's. We will stay here again:-)!!

Perfect in Paradise!

We recently stayed at Bombalassy for an eight night stay. The villa was absolutely gorgeous -- the photos and views from the villa were just as pictured here, but even better in person! The property was very clean, well-maintained, and contained all the accessories needed for a perfect stay. Beach chairs & towels, snorkel equipment, and coolers were in great condition and came in handy for our daily trips to the numerous beautiful beaches around the island. The owners, Curtis and Myrtle were great to work with and very helpful. One morning, Curtis called to see if our internet connection was working and was there within 5 minutes to fix the problem before we even realized it wasn't working. Except for that short period of time, the internet and all other equipment in the villa were in perfect working order. We stayed with another couple, as the villa is set up perfectly for two couples - but I would highly recommend Bombalassy for a romantic get-a-way for just two people as well. It is conveniently located to the ferry dock, hiking trail heads, restaurants, shopping, and night-life of Cruz Bay - a perfect location! We truly enjoyed our time at Bombalassy and hope to return someday soon!

Fantastic Vacation!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Bombalassy. This was our third trip to St. John (previously staying at the Westin). Curtis and Myrtle made everything run so smoothly -- meeting us at the ferry with our rental car (and same at departure) made it very convenient. The on-line pictures of Bombalassy actually do not even do it justice - it was more beautiful in person. The villa is very well maintained and is fully "stocked" in terms of items like beach chairs, beach umbrellas, coolers, rain umbrellas, BBQ, kitchen items etc. The location is great - quick drive to Cruz Bay and very short drive (or even walk) to the Westin. We would definitely recommend this Villa for rental and we will definitely consider renting it again. (As my 7-year old said when we first walked in: "We actually get to stay here??!!") Also note that if 2 families are travelling together, renting Bombalassy and the companion villa (Pink Conch?) would work really well. (that said, we felt complete privacy in Bombalassy). Almost perfect

The place is just as the pictures show. It was clean, with well equipped kitchen, grill, beach stuff, laundry, a great view, and a handy location. The owners met us at the ferry and were friendly and helpful.
The only downsides are that you can't walk easily to a beach, the 2nd bedroom is not nearly as roomy as the master one, and it is about 25 steps down from the drive to the front door. The steep drive takes getting used too, but you have room to turn, so after the first few times it's ok.
Wish we didn't have to leave!

Perfect location, perfect villa!

We selected Villa Bombalassy for our 4th trip to St. John and we could not have been happier! Villa owners Myrtle and Curtis were very friendly and welcoming, and they did a wonderful job designing Bombalassy. It is perfect for 1 or 2 couples and offered just the right amount of space for everyone to relax. Could also be rented with the adjacent identical Villa Pink Conch for a larger group. The villa is in almost brand-new condition and was very clean upon our arrival. Kitchen is modern and well stocked. Full size washer and dryer were very convenient. Wifi was included and easy to use. Beach chairs and coolers were also included. All you need is a few sandwiches, drinks, and snorkel gear and you're ready for the beach! This location is my favorite, by far, of all the places we've stayed on St. John. The villa is located on a ridge between Cruz Bay and the Westin, so it is a quick 5 minute (or less) drive into town for shopping and dining and less than 5 minutes to the Westin for a spa treatment. A jeep or other SUV is definitely a necessity though, as the driveway is steep and the neighborhood roads are not pedestrian friendly (this is the case with just about all the villas on St. John). A few of our favorite places and things to do on St. John:
Favorite restaurant: La Tapa - really delicious Mediterranean food, nice atmosphere, and super friendly staff; Other must-try food/drink spots: Woody's, Skinny Legs, Miss Lucy's, Spy Glass (awesome fish tacos for happy hour), Waterfront Bistro, Vie's Snack Shack, Shipwreck
Favorite boat charter: Captain Truman & Captain Larry - visit the BVI's for a day
Favorite beaches: Maho, Cinnamon (rent a kayak!), Francis, Hawkesnest, Honeymoon, Jumbie
There is so much to see & do you could spend 2 weeks on St. John and still not get to everything. It is the perfect tropical vacation spot!
