My wife and I spent a week at the house in April and it was fantastic. The house was beautiful, the pool was great, and the view was amazing (especially the sunset). It was a short walk to the beach and many restaurants. There are also lots of adventure tours nearby....we went on a fishing trip, travelled to the volcanic hot springs, went white water rafting, and did the canopy tour (zipline). We will definitely stay here again on our next visit and highly recommend it to anyone. The house is large and will comfortably accommodate plenty of people.

My wife, 3 children, and nanny spent Thanksgiving Week 2010 at Villa aurelia and had the best family vacation we have ever experienced. We travel often and stay in excellent accommodations. Playa Hermosa, CR in comparison to Hawaii, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Florida, Disney, Mexico, Aruba...dramatically exceeded our expectations. Villa aurelia was perfect for our family... spacious, clean, many upgrades, high end amenities, excellent pool, wonderful ocean views, abundant wildlife (birds, iguanas, howler monkeys, etc.). One of the nicest overall places we have stayed...perfect centralized location...with access to endless activities. Sue with Milagro Rentals was outstanding! Very helpful and professional. We recommend strongly asking Sue to arrange for a cook...the meal was the best we had while in Costa Rica...that's saying a lot because the food is wonderful. Bernal Mata with Tico Tours Guanacaste really made the trip for us. He and his staff were the most professional, knowledgeable guides that I have ever contracted with. Bernal is excellent with all people...the kids loved him! He will absolutely make your trip a great one. We plan to visit Villa aurelia again this year and will be bringing friends. Reserve this property...you will not be disappointed.

This review is long overdue! My husband and I stayed at this lovely home from May 15 until June 15, 2010. My sister and her husband shared the home with us. We have been to this area previously, having rented for a month at a time in Palo Alto subdivision, and went on this ocassion to have fun and visit our son who was living in Playas Del CoCo. The owner was extremely nice and allowed our son access to the house to await our arrival.
The house is incredible and the photographs do not do it justice. The furnishings throughout the house are top notch, with extreme attention to detail, and the kitchen is a dream for those that love to cook. My sister is a chef and felt that this kitchen was better outfitted than hers, which is quite a compliment. The outdoor area was very relaxing, the pool was clean and the seats in the water were a nice touch for those wanting to read and look at the lovely bay. As my husband says the pool and seating were "awesome."
Although the proximity to the house next door was initially concerning, there was never a problem with parking or noise. The caretaker, Charlie, was very nice and helped us carry in bags of groceries and made sure we were in safely at night.My sister did not venture out the first few days and Charlie made sure he was present anytime someone drove up the driveway. This added security made her feel safe when we were off exploring and she chose to cook and hang by the pool. We tipped Charlie at the end of our stay and left many of our purchased items with him, which he greatly appreciated.
If you have not been to this area before the community is small and walkable. There are several nice places for dinner in this hamlet but it is preferable to have a car and access to CoCo for groceries and supplies.
The house in in a nice location and only a short walk to the beach, but remember to bring bug spray during the rainy months as my sister and husband had trouble with them. We loved this house and it was very difficult to leave. Costa Rica is a wonderful country and we hope to return there soon. Also, this house would be at the top of our list!

The most amazing trip I've ever taken. Four of us stayed at Villa Aurelia for a week and every day was something new and amazing. The beaches, the tours, the food, the sunsets, the house; everything went beyond our expectations and all the while Charlie gave us peace of mind. The Villa had everything a home should and more, and local businesses provide the needs of any vacation. I can't imagine there's a better tour guide than Bernal out there. He answered every question we had about Costa Rica, and took care of our every want and need we asked of him at a very reasonable rate. Bernal really goes beyond and gives a first class service. If Costa Rica is the destination, Villa Aurelia is the place to stay.

Stayed at both homes the weekend of July 4th, and fell in love with the country as well as the homes. Aurelia and Catalina are two very beautiful homes. Charlie was a wonderful caretaker, and had many funny stories. Bernal was a wonderful guide. Our group plans on returning at least once a year, and hopefully these homes will still be available. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your homes.

We recently spent 10 wonderful days at the Villa Aurelia with 2 other couples. All 3 couples had plenty of room for privacy and yet it was intimate enough to enjoy a group setting. We were very pleased with the condition of the home and it's surroundings.

We took advantage of the tours offered by Bernal and we were very pleased with the pricing offered, and the well organized manner with which he handled his tours. He was very accomodating and worked around our groups wishes and schedule.

Charlie the care taker was very pleasent to work with and his wife Sue is an excellent cook. We would highly recommend having her cook at least one meal to get the true local flavor.

We are already planning our next trip and staying at this wonderful home will be a given.

Villa Aurelia is absolutely stunning in its location, views and furnishings. The deck and pool are beautiful and comfortable with views of the ocean that are to die for. The beach is a quick walk away as are wonderful restaurants -- breakfast, lunch and dinner is available in a wide range of styles including the "typical" or local flair. The beach is expansive and makes for a great morning and evening (the sun sets, no, explodes, on the water in the evening) walking regimes and make sure to have a camera at all times. The people are friendly and very well educated (college is free!) and go out of their way to help travelers out. The villa has every modern convenience and a taste of elegance and luxury that makes a vacation especially memorable. Finally, there are a number of locals in the owner's employ who can take care of literally any problem, get you to some amazing sights and help out with your Spanish. My wife and I will be back to Villa Aurelia (or Casa Catalina!) very, very soon.
