We love staying at this place when we come visit our daughter at UCSB. The room itself is beautiful as well as comfortable, and the view from the room and deck is striking. There is enough space for our daughter to come hang out and study, and we are all very comfortable here. The grounds around the house are filled with lush plantings - it's all very peaceful. The neighborhood is wonderful, and we are minutes away from UCSB, downtown Santa Barbara, and beautiful parks and sights. Chris is a very attentive host, who takes pride in her clean and well-kept accommodations. This place is a winner!

Gorgeous view and comfortable accommodation

The view is absolutely gorgeous. Lovely gardens to look at. The pool is only for the owner so it was a bit hard to look down at it and know it was off limits. The room is large and air conditioning worked very well and was quiet. A good thing because it has lots of windows and so if the sun is out it gets really warm in there even if not that hot a day. I think to call it a studio is a bit misleading since it is really just a bedroom with a small refrigerator and a table with a microwave and toaster oven on it. It is more of a bed and no breakfast. But worth the price and very well-kept.
Don't forget soap, shampoo, coffee if you want to make some etc. The top unit is the best view but the lower ones don't get so much sun and get so warm in the afternoon. Also you need a car--it is a few miles from the highway and from the major attractions.

Very nice studio with a great view

The studio is located in Goleta and from the private deck and the balcony you've got a great view!
The apartment is quiet small (3 persons) and there's not really a possibility to cook, there's just a microwave, a toaster and a water boiler.
But it's still great located and very quiet and has got a wonderful garden - a perfect place to relax!
Chris, the owner is very friendly and helpful.
We can absolutely recommend this studio for a short trip to SB!

Great value for money

We stayed at this appartment for four nights. It's ljust at a short drive to downtown Santa Barbara. The location itself is real nice and quiet and gives you a great view over Santa Barbara. It's a great place to stay if you like to go downtown shopping, having a nice meal or walk along the beach. The appartment itself is quitespacious, well maintained en well equipped.

The owner of the appartment is real nice as well. SHe provided us with coffee and information of places to go and places to eat. Service was excellent. Renting this appartment gives you great value for money.

First-time VRBO renters

Our 3-night stay was wonderful! The studio was as represented: very comfortable bed (we loved that the bed was firmer and not quite soft as so many are these days:), simply and nicely decorated with conveniences of a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven and other nice touches such as wine bottle opener, coffee pot w/cups and misc. items in case something was forgotten. It truly seems as though Chris and her family have thought of all the details which made our stay so great! The deck with a patio table and chairs were one of our favorite features and views were wonderful. Though they had a great TV available, we enjoyed the peace and quiet (only slight road noise from down below during week-day) while there. It feels much farther away from town, while in reality is only about a 10 min. drive. The property was very well-maintained and we wouldn't hesitate to rent again as well as recommend this to others. Chris and her daughter, Melanie were very sweet and helpful also in leaving recommendations for eateries in the room. Thanks for a wonderful first-time experience with VRBO!

Chris was a wonderful host, and took great care of us. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we need, and was very flexible. The apt is beautiful, state-of-the-art everything, and incredibly cozy.

A Room with a View

Submitted: September 28, 2011 Stayed: September 2011
My boyfriend and I stayed in this room with a beautiful view for two nights. The photos and description of the property is exactly as stated. We had a late arrival at 10pm, and the owner and her dog greeted us when we got there. The directions provided to us was perfect and we found the home with ease. The room was very clean and we got just what we wanted, a place to rest at night while we explore the area by day. The property is off of San Marcos Pass, so we ventured out about 40 minutes into Solvang to Paula's Pancake House for breakfast, went on an amazing glider ride through Windhaven Glider Rides next to the Gainey Vineyards, then headed back down San Marcos Pass to Cold Spring Tavern for a drink, and finally caught the sunset and headed to Santa Barbara Shellfish Company for dinner on Stearn's Wharf. All in a fun filled day! It was EPIC!

Secluded Neighborhood room in private home

4 of 5
Submitted: June 27, 2011 Stayed: March 2011
I would have rated this as excellent if it had a few more amenities; I would rate it Very Good as it is better than just good. Overall, this is a great room, quiet, secluded from the rest of the home, great view of the Goleta coast. Furnishings and linens are upscale and the deck is huge. The room and furnishings were exceptionally clean and well maintained.
Pluses: The owner provided a basket with paperplates, napkins, plastic utensils etc - great idea for those who like to enjoy a glass of wine and light snacks. There is a small refrigerator in the room and the bed was very comfortable. My favorite part was the view from the room out the french doors. It was a windy night so some tiebacks for the doors would have been nice (we used a belt and a tie to hold them open) and the feeling of being outside was incredible. Secure parking near the room which is on the second story and has a nice view. There was a table and four chairs on the deck. There is a second rental unit in the garden which looked very nice from the outside. It was occupied, so we couldn't see the inside, but the shaded porch looked very nice and the occupants also had lawn chairs out on the grass. The owner was very helpful, gave us directions and even offered to drive us down to the bike path. There is a park just below the home (but you can't see it or hear people there) and you can walk down the hill to a short hike along the creek which was very pleasant.
The downside: It was a warm weekend, and there was no umbrella on the deck - although there was an umbrella stand, so maybe it was just not up at the time. The television was quite small and not well located - would have been better mounted on the wall. There is not much surface space - the room is average bedroom size so not a lot of extra space, but the two sets of french doors make it seem larger. The coffeetray took up most of the space on the table - so we had to use the top of the refrigerator for our wine glasses. The owner brought us a bowl of ice, but the freezer wasn't cold enough to keep it from melting - a cooler on the deck with a bag of ice would have been a great compromise.
Overall, this is a wonderful place for a romantic getaway, couples or close friends. I would definitely stay here again. Owner is very accommodating and the area is lovely. I'd love to have had a small bbq on the deck so we could have enjoyed the view and had dinner in. Try Club Soho for music!

This was a great little perch in the hills--close to downtown Santa Barbara, but much more scenic and private. I stayed for four days and loved the view and the convenience. Chris is easy to work with and returned my deposit quickly. I look forward to returning!
