Quiet, Central Island Location

If you're looking for a nice, quiet, affordable neighborhood setting for your family, this may be the rental for you. It's centrally located, so the beach is only nice walk or a free trolly ride away, as are the fantastic shops of Pine Avenue. The home was clean, comfortable and well organized, although it did have minimal maintenance needs -- a living room window that didn't close properly and a tear in the pool area screen. The pool and deck area were nice, but guests should be aware the pool uses solar heat, so don't expect it to be warm during winter months. The spa was also not heated, but the owner was up-front with us about that before our visit. The bedrooms were ideal for our family -- a full-size bed in the master bedroom and two twins plus futon in the second bedroom. We liked that the children had their own room and bathroom. Washer and dryer were also nice, although the dryer did take more than one cycle to dry anything. The kitchen was well equipped, and the pool table in the living room was fun. Wireless Internet and cable were nice bonuses, but the weather was so nice during our stay we rarely used them. Highlights of our stay include fresh donuts from nearby Anna Maria Donuts on Pine and a suri bike rental from Beach Bums, also on Pine. The Sandbar Restaurant was great for delicious oceanfront dining in a fun atmosphere. Our only negative experience with the rental was having to buy ant traps; tiny little ants were in the kitchen and master bathroom upon our arrival, but we understand such ants are common in homes with fruit trees. The backyard oranges were good and juicy!
