This was a beautiful home. We loved the privacy and beautiful natural surroundings. We arrived almost an hour and a half late due to plane delays, and Abel was very gracious about the delay, and still met us at the gate with a welcoming smile. We would definitely recommend this home, and would stay there again should we get the opportunity to return to PR. The one thing I would say is, don't plan on getting anywhere in a hurry here...the mountain roads are narrow & twisty, and beautiful!!

My stay was actually in November of 2011, but my review is delayed. This house was immaculate, absolutely gorgeous! It is quite large with a pleasant wrap around porch. The backyard is dreamy, approx 8 acres of tropical beauty.
Unfortunately, we spent several days of our stay without running water at no fault to the owners. They handled the situation very well and checked on us daily bringing gallons of fresh water to use. Very caring people.
The property is a bit challenging to get to via a 15 minute drive through windy roads, but well worth it. Make sure you research the area before your stay to get the most out of it. There are many nearby sites and attractions well worth the visit.
Overall, I felt rich staying here. I'd love to visit again in the future! Great value!

Light-filled, spotless, gracious home with a view across the hills. The owner met us, provided coffee from his property, and gave us directions to many interesting nearby places to visit. Our family enjoyed walking down to the river, petting his horses and lounging on the porches, ad our toddler played on the children's equipment. A great week thanks to Abel Muniz Camacho

Previous stays in Puerto Rico over the years have been with Family or Hotels. What a pleasant two weeks with the freedom of other's schedules and the experience of living in a home away from home. With the relaxed rural pace of life we already found ourselves dreaming of a retirement permanently living in such luxurious accomadations with the convenience of location to the shopping/art museums of Ponce, the malls of arecibo, and the diversions on driving along the jungled panoramic mountain spine running along the western to eastern ends of this island paradise. Not to mention being only a little more than an hour away from america's eldest city of 500 year-old San Juan with all its history and culture. We can only hope this year Puerto Rico votes to become our 51st State. What a proud heritage and our hosts of ana and abel certainly conveyed that magic and warm charm that this island offers all its visitors. There was always a mountain breeze blowing one way or another through the slated but screened windows. The home and 7 acre property is clean, safe, well-maintained, and has modern bathrooms, appointed kitchen, and even a washer/dryer for extended residence: an ironing board would have been nice-but we made-do with the supplied iron and a few towels. Tourists remain within the crowded venues of the metropolitan East. Travelers discover an unknown wonderland with stays in homes like this gem hidden in the mountains of central Utuado. Make everyday your personal and unique adventure.

This is a wonderful vacation home on a farm in Utuado. We went with 7 and 9 year old, myself, my wife, and 78 year old grandpa. We would definitely go back. key Highlights: well built comfortable house, gets great morning sunlight, horses on the premises, adventure trail down to the river (the kids loved this - prepare to get super muddy), Abel is a wonderful host, so friendly and he was there both for our arrival and departure, the outdoor BBQ was great. The only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are: Master bedroom is only room with curtains so for other rooms you have to choose between letting in fresh air or the morning sun, linens could use an upgrade, kitchen could use a toaster oven, and living room could use more light for nighttime games and reading. those are small things for a wonderful family experience in the mountains at a great price.

I wish I knew where to start. It was just great to be able to stay here. Abel's patience and kindness to wait for our arrival late in the night thanks to my penchant for not reading instructions is very appreciated. Abel was always available for questions - a phone call away.

Better to start with the wonderful location in the Center of Puerto Rico. This home is nestled in the mountains and what struck me immediately was how clean the house was upon our arrival. You have everything required for a comfortable stay, including toiletries. The home has broadband internet, cable programming and a nice kitchen to whip up some meals, a large refrigerator and a washer and dryer.

The layout is great and the porch wraps around the front and side of the house, and would be great for a yoga class/retreat - I did yoga every morning as the temp was cool at that time and watching the sunrise gave impetus to my sun salutations. In the evenings, sitting down with my parents to recount our adventures for the day while sipping on rum or tea was wonderful - a chorus of frogs and crickets will accompany you - it is amazing.

Some books are offered (including a historical series on Bolivar we had never seen) as well as some movies.

Geographically, Utuado is in the middle of the island. The home is 15 km (10 mi) from their and about 10 km (6 mi) from Lares (a larger town). Trips all over the Western part of the island take about 1 to 1.5 hours (We drove to Aguadilla, Rincon, Mayaguez, Guanica, Ponce and always came back to the comfort of "our" house. Driving to San Juan was also 1.5 hours. Lares features an amazing ice cream shop (Heladeria Lares) that has over 45 flavors ranging from Corn to Ginger to Rice and Beans! There is a small town close to the home, featuring a Post Office, Grocery store (Grocery Stores in PR sell beer and spirits!) and a bakery further down the road.

This property really is a treat to stay at and would recommend it to all my friends and family. I only regret not being able to just stay and live there!

It's a slight but actually charming chore to get to the house via a narrow and winding road. The house is accurately described and quite wonderful. The pictures and listing do not exaggerate appearance and amenities. The house is lovely but could use some additional tender loving inspection and care. On the whole staying there was a good experience. Of course Puerto Rico itself is very special with lots to see, do, and enjoy. I would readily recommend this property to relatives and others. Thanks Abel, looking forward to my next visit.
