While both the views from the back and the house itself are very beautiful, the poor management makes this place not worth your time and aggravation. You would be much better off renting from someone else, or going through a rental agency that offers a better contract for your protection.

Upon checking in the house was found to be very clean, but temps were very frigid. This is due to the fact that the heat was set so low, with notes instructing to keep temps at a certain number. Thank god for the fireplace!! The ad says the owner will supply you with toilet paper, trash bags, towels, etc. BRING YOUR OWN, there is no where near enough. You may also wish to bring some AA batteries seeing as all of the remote controls for the TV, DVD players did not have any. The pool table is missing the cue and the eight ball so bring your own if you want to shoot pool.

The moment you check in I would go through the entire house and make a detailed list of anything you find to not be working and notify the owner right away. If you don't you WILL end up paying for it with your security deposit. Even though the contract clearly states that normal wear and tear are covered, that does not seem to be the case. Just imagine if the hot tub were to have an issue during you stay. Could get very pricey.

I never had the feeling of being relaxed in the rental unit. The amount of post it notes all over telling us to "do not use" makes you feel as if you are invading the owners personal space. I have never experienced anything like that before in rentals in the past. It seems to me that the owner is on edge about renting this place out. Does not make for a good situation.

The bottom line is that management make this place that is truly amazing non rentable in my opinion. I would pass on this unit. Notice how many reviews are left on this unit compared to a lot of the other units in the area. You will do much better elsewhere. I must say that this was the worst experience I personally had in a rental home.
Owner's Response: It disheartens me your vacation experience, at my home, did not meet your expectations.

Thank you for your input, I provided the recommended supplies. I will add extra.

The Post-It's, again were recommended to assist in the use of the house.

The contract states, the renter will be liable for damages.

It is nice to know you enjoyed the amenities of my home.

May every vacationer have a wonderful experience!

Log Cabin at Sunday River

LOG CABIN IN BETHEL

Catching snowflakes and watching sunsets from the hot tub, sitting around the woodstove afterwards wrapped in fluffy robes. Just some of the pleasures we enjoyed while staying at the Log Cabin in Sunday River .

My husband Hugh and I along with our three children have rented many homes over the years, both in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island , Canada . The Log Cabin, hands down, makes the top two list. The other being on our home island of Cape Breton .

It is important to note we really struggled with trading a slope side accommodation for something off the mountain with more space. What could be better than skiing right from the door of the hotel or condo? But wouldn’t more space be more relaxing as our children only get bigger and noisier?? Well, once we saw the Log Cabin we never looked back. The view is so stunning it took several minutes to even notice the rest of the house. And we barely noticed the difference between packing the kids in the van instead of the elevator for the ten minute drive to the hill.

The Log Cabin is the perfect bland of casual and elegant with a deluxe master bedroom suite that is flooded pink with the morning sunset alongside a great room with such comfortable reading chairs that, if she could have, my daughter would have taken them back to Nova Scotia. The great room also features a magnificent stone fireplace and our hosts provided tons of firewood to feed it.

There is plenty of room for the kids to hang out après ski. There is a den/bedroom with wifi on the main floor. The entire bottom floor can be dedicated to them with sleeping for at least six. There is a separate bedroom with a double bed. Also a single over double bunk bed area and two sitting areas with couches, a TV, and a large pool table.

Sometimes in the past we have felt like we were borrowing from the owners because they lived nearby or sent people to check up on us. The Log Cabin truly felt like our home for the week even when our host Rick was showing us around. He is a truly a gracious host!
