A Disappointment

This property is listed as "...the ULTIMATE in luxury in style." Unfortunately, we did not find that to be the case. There are several items in need of attention in the cabin and it did not meet up to the standard that was advertised. The upholstery in main room was torn; the pool table was not placed in the same position as shown in the listing and consequently a proper game could not be played at all since it is placed in such a way that the pool cues hit the walls/windows when attempting to play; the igniter button on the gas BBQ grill did not work; the cover of the hot tub is in need of repair or replacement; the door from the bedroom to the hot tub area does not open/close properly and could only be opened with an extreme amount of exersion, when using the hot tub we were afraid to close the door for fear of getting locked out; several light bulbs were inoperative throughout the cabin; water pooled on the shelf and in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator. The Chocolate Moose certainly has great potential, however, inattention to some important details resulted in a disappointing experience. We emailed Geri upon our departure and let her know about these issues. She did not seem concerned about our disappointment. Her response to the issue with the refrigerator reveals her general attitude. "I have know about the refrigerator inside water leak for years. I knew about that from the initial Inspection BEFORE I purchased the cabin. I have had 2 appliance repair men at different times to look and try to fix that problem, but neither were able to do so or detect the origin of the leak, as it seems to be an intermittent problem. The only solutions would be to purchase and new refrigerator and I do not wish to do that..." I would not recommend this property.
Owner's Response: When Tracy CHECKED OUT she emailed me with these & other similar issues. My first thought would was, why would I be getting this type email when it sounds more like a punch-list from a Home Inspection than from people that vacationed there. I understood when I read that last sentence that reads "For the most part, we have enjoyed our stay in your cabin, but we do respectfully feel that we are due a partial refund of our fees". I promptly ordered an Inspection to check for legitimate problems. I emailed Tracy with the results & DENIED her REFUND request. INSPECTION RESULTS: 1.One small rip in couch, normal wear & tear 2.Weber gas grill self-starter hard to start, but starts fine with hand lighter, 2 lighters in cabin 3.Hot tub cover probably in need of replacement soon, but in NO WAY effects use & enjoyment of hot tub 4.Direct weather causes exterior door to swell from moisture when it rains, like any wood. She also said that there was something wrong with lock mechanism in email, Inspection showed it was fine & only way they could get locked out is if they turned the lock to the lock position.5.2 Low-wattage candelabra bulbs facing ceiling in 20" high chandelier that produce very little light burned out. Total of 21 bulbs in room supplies PLENTY of light, I bulb burned out in bath, 4 more bulbs in bath,1 bulb unscrewed in bedroom ceiling fan, easy to reach,PLENTY more light in room 6.Slow intermittent leak inside refrigerator, couldn't find source & was told it did not compromise temperature or food storage. I don't think many people would replace a perfectly good refrigerator with a new one that has this minor issue & it is cleaned after every check-out.7. Pool table is in same position for 5 years & I have NEVER had a complaint about the position before. ONLY 1 of these issues (grill) was brought to my attention while they were there,I offered to send Maintenance & was refused. I then got email saying "All else is good. Thanks much" MY THINKING is life is not perfect, there will always be rips, slips, drips & minor malfunctions. But, MY ATTITUDE is SUPER GREAT concerning my cabin! I LOVE the Chocolate Moose & DO EVERYTHING I CAN DO TO SEE THAT ALL MY GUESTS ARE HAPPY & COMFORTABLE! I don't mean to be harsh, but..the MORAL OF THE STORY is: You can't go to a restaurant, eat a steak, complain & then ask for a refund. Same with a cabin rental, can't stay for days, check-out, complain about issues that were never brought to my attention & expect a refund.
