Most of all, my husband and I appreciated the quiet and privacy of Pondview. It was delightful (and soothing) to be in a place where we could listen to the birds and other natural sounds without hearing machinery of any kind. The acreage is beautiful, and the whole place is like a bird sanctuary. (We saw a heron, a common redpoll, and many more...) We so enjoyed walking the land, seeing the views and the ponds. It was idyllic. The house is thoughtfully appointed with many windows to allow beautiful views and light. The handmade quilts on the walls add another warm touch. All in all, this property is perfect for nature lovers who need a break from the city or suburbs. Oh, and Da Vinci's Italian restaurant has excellent Italian food. The owner was very kind, and the decor is lovely. Finger Lakes Coffee House in nearby Van Etten is a fun stop for breakfast or lunch; they also sell locally-made soap in delicious, unusual scents.

We spent 3 days at Pondview with our 4 young children. The surroundings are so peaceful and scenic. The views from every window of the house are so pretty, you could just sit and look out the window all day! It feels like you're staying in your own little world. We had fun exploring the trails, fossil hunting in the dry lake bed, and even naming the animals that hang around the ponds. As my 7 year old son said "Mommy, this is actually really fun!" My intention was to have a little vacation full of nature and this was just perfect. It's a nature lover's paradise. There are so many beautiful state parks in the area. We couldn't fit them all in and can't wait to go back.

The town of Spencer has a few restaurants and a supermarket, but the drive to Ithaca is quick and pleasant. We ate at DaVinci's Restaurant in Spencer a few times. Really kind staff, so friendly to us that it really gave us a sense of small town life.

We had a great time at the Corning Museum of Glass (much more interesting than you might imagine). Definitely recommend making one or more glass items in the workshops. Loved Robert Treman state park, Taughannock state park, Buttermilk Falls state park, the Moosewood restaurant, Ithaca Bakery and Purity Ice Cream. Didn't have enough time to make it to Watkins Glen state park, but apparently that's one of the best. All in all, a great getaway!

Our first VRBO rental exceeded expectations. We (husband and me, our college student son and dog) packed up the turkey and goodies in Detroit and headed to Pond View in November to spend a long weekend with our daughter, who is attending school in nearby Ithaca.

What a great space with the comforts of home---plus room to roam. No problem cooking Thanksgiving dinner in the fully equipped kitchen, great hike up the mountain, and the dog loved the freedom to run outside.

We just spent 5 great days at Pondview. We booked last minute, but the owner was responsive and flexible, and also really nice and friendly. The property is unique, and if feels like you are staying in your own state park with trails and ponds and wildlife. We caught the changing colors, and it was really beautiful. Location is quite isolated, and it does require roughly 30 minutes to reach areas of interest, but you have many choices: Watkins Glen, Corning and Ithaca are all similar distances. The town of Montour Falls outside of Watkins Glen is a cute find. The house itself is great, everything is labeled, everything is provided, and it's very cozy. We highly recommend.

I can't say enough good things about this property. This was my 4th time staying here, I always feel like I'm returning to my second home. The owners are always very accommodating and make me feel very welcome, they even took the time to show my son and I some fishing tips. My black labs might just love this property more than I. There is always Ithaca nearby for a taste of some local culture. We enjoy the large private property for hiking, fishing, camp fires, fossil hunting and blackberry picking. Perfect for the nature lover and outdoorsman.

This is an amazing quiet location in the woods! It has everything you would need and is close to a supermarket for quick runs to the store. My friend and I had a great time with the dogs swimming in the ponds and we had the greatest time. This house would be perfect for a couple traveling or someone who has large dogs ready to swim. I think our dogs had more fun that we did! We had a great time... Thanks!

We just finished our second visit to Pond View and it was just as excellent as the first. The house is perfect with its size and amenities. We love the house, the location, the quiet and the relaxation. Our dog Journey spent the entire long weekend swimming and running all day long (he is still recovering!) and we constantly have smiles on our faces when we are at Pond View.

Its just close enough for us to enjoy downtown Ithaca and the wineries, but just remote enough for us to really unwind and unplug. We already cant wait for our visit next year.

This was my third time visiting. I always feel at home here, friendly owners, and cabinets are always stocked with the basics. I enjoy the serenity this property has to offer, it's easy to forget the world out there while staying here. This property is paradise for my 2 black labs. I always enjoy hikes on this property; finding fossils and observing the abundant wild life. If I want a taste of the city life Ithaca is not far away.
