About Big Wave Dave

I have had unique opportunities that have allowed me to experience many wonderful things..Early traveling experiences in Asia and Latin America have really helped me to appreciate all that this World has to offer. Now that my family and I live permanently here on Kauai, I spend my free time with them. For fun I like to Scuba dive and Spearfish and of course gardening on my beautiful farm.

One thing my traveling in South East Asia taught me is people want affordable and clean accommodations that are centrally located to all the popular must see locations on Kauai, and the bamboo cabin has all of this.. The Cabin is within walking distance to the ocean, it is within a 20 minute drive to waterfalls, sea caves, cliff diving, mountain climbing, lobster hunting, sunrise shell collecting, mountain climbing sunrise photo taking and so much more that you will never find in any tourist magazine

What makes this apartment unique

The unique benefits to this property are most certainly the price. Also the last thing you will feel like when you get here is a tourist..When you come to the Bamboo Cabin you will know what it is like to feel like a local and experience all that the Island life has to offer..From the bamboo cabin you can do wonderful things like Sunrise shell collecting, lobster diving, Sea Turtle sight seeing, taro farming, cliff jumping and Hawaiian Temple exploring.....Our customer service has no equal for every booking of seven days or more you will receive a free activity at the Kauai Adventure Camp..

When I first arrived I realized this was going to be a very different vacation that what I was used too.. The Bamboo Cabin is basically a very simple one room cabin with a kitchen area were you can cook pretty much anything except items that need to be baked like cookies, pizza etc.....The bathroom is connected to the home through a little side door that opens into an area where there is a simple composting toilet set up, instructions on the wall explains how to use. It gets very dark at night time, so it would have been helpful to have a flashlight to access the shower in the evening......The Cabin is on a farm with lots of gardens to harvest, fresh veggies, egg laying chickens, piggies and very funny goats.......walking to the beach took approx 20 minutes, beach was very beautiful we visited it often....lots of red dirt so be prepared to have to take your shoes off before you come into the home......Had a great experience, the home was a great deal, don't expect allot for your $49 a night...... basically the home is for people that want a cheap place to crash and make food in between their adventures on Kauai

I was so happy to stay in the Bamboo Cabin, it was truly a great adventure! The cabin was the perfect location for me to explore all the waterfalls on Kauai, which were part of a photo documentary I was working on. Big Wave Dave even helped me find some secret waterfall that were not on the map. The home was a little on the small side, but perfect for 2 people. If I would have came with my family, I would have needed a bigger place for sure. Walking to the beach was really enjoyable lots of vistas great for early morning shoots the sunsets were also really impressive too....Will defiantly be back for my next assignment....Thanks BWD for a wonderful time!

This was a very different location that what I expected. The home is an Eco friendly location, they have a composting toilet and bins to compost all of your vegetable matter. The outside shower was also a nice change to what I have been used to, showering outside under the stars was very enjoyable...Although the whole Eco thing took some time getting used to, I must say it was a very rewarding experience and I will defiantly take back home some things that I learned....The price was very affordable, the owners also have access to very cheap rental cars which made my whole vacation not so pricey..There was some residual road noise that would come and go, but after a while I got used to it..This was by far the greatest vacation I had for some time, already making plans to come back next year
