The closest unofficial beach is in front of the Capitol Building in about 10-15 walking minutes from almost anywhere in Old San Juan. The nearest blue flag beach is called El Escambron and can reached in about 25-30 minutes walking along the Atlantic Ocean or in about 5 minutes by car/ taxi or bus. Old San Juan has a bus station from where you can go to Plaza Las Americas, the biggest mall in the Caribbean, to the Convention Center, as well as to Condado and Isla Verde, the other two main tourist spots along the coast of San Juan. Condado and Isla Verde are the modern parts of the city and have great beaches, hotels & casinos & much more...

We were referred to Vida Urbana and 18 Calle Sol specifically by friends. It exceeded all expectations.

We were warmly welcomed, and felt at home immediately. The location was perfect: quiet, close to shopping and groceries (ask about the Saturday market), good restaurants, walking, museums and galleries and the forts. A lovely surprise was the tennis court close by - with lights in the evening! But this apartment was so lovely, it was tempting to just laze in the hammock, or sleep in late, reading, and enjoying the lovely breezes and the courtyard water fountain.

This was exactly the winter break we needed. And there is so much to see and do on the island that we'll definitely be back.

Thank you!

Amazing Home in Old San Juan

My fiance and I stayed at this apartment on Calle de Sol at the end of February 2010. In short, we had an amazing time and I would HIGHLY recommend it!

- Clean and well kept interior and exterior
- Gated exterior door to the building (like the rest of the homes in Old San Juan)
- Very quiet except for an occasional vehicle traveling down the street
- Seemed like it was just renovated so it was very nice!

- This apartment is on the ground floor and has very high ceilings
- Was very clean when we checked-in (floors, furniture, towels, bedding)
- New modern bathroom
- Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen/dining room, and living room, and patio are all well furnished
- Patio was very nice (kept finding my fiance with a glass of wine and a book there) and has a small fountain which we kept on at night
- Kitchen and living room was very large and we cooked, served dinner, and entertained friends (6 people total) there and had a great time
- All windows to the street are gated with shutters that can be closed
- Door to foyer area has two locks and we felt very safe and secure
- Wireless internet was nice to have since it helped us plan day trips
- Had satellite TV, but, didn't use it much since there was so much to do in Old San Juan
- Washer and dryer came in handy...just remember to bring detergent!
- Bedroom has A/C

- You will be within walking distance to shopping, markets, the old fort (El Morrow), and too many restaurants! We stayed for almost a week and there were still places we wanted to try to eat at or grab a drink from
- You are extremely close to the Old San Juan Gate and there is a great walking/running path there which runs along the old city walls. Great for a morning run or romantic evening walk since it runs along the water

- I corresponded with Annett and her staff. They were very friendly and made the whole check-in/check-out process easy

Overall I would highly recommend this apartment in Old San Juan. We will definitely be coming back!
