My husband and I visited Providenciales for the first time over New Year's. We found the White Cottage online and were impressed with the positive reviews and affordable price. The cottage and the island did not disappoint! Although Lucille was out of town when we arrived, she arranged for someone to meet us and had stocked the fridge and cupboards with fruit, breads, and even sparkling cider for a New Year's toast! The cottage met our needs perfectly. It was fully stocked with linens, towels, beach towels, toilet paper, and even shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Everything was extremely clean and fans were provided in all rooms in case the cottage was too warm (which at this time of the year, it wasn't). As travelers, eating out can be expensive and having a kitchen was a great addition to our accommodations. IGA is not too far away for groceries. Lucille also provides a cell phone, which came in very handy when our car had a flat tire. The island of Providenciales is small, however renting a car while staying at the White Cottage is definitely recommended. My husband and I enjoyed exploring many of the beaches on the island and going to more "local" eateries, so having a car was a must for us.
The White Cottage is attached to another home, and we had an opportunity to get to know the neighbours (including their very friendly dog!) while we were there. All of the people we met on the island were extremely friendly and this was easily one of the safest places we have ever been to.
As mentioned above, my husband and I enjoyed trying some of the local restaurants and those right on the beach. Our favourites included "Sailing Paradise" for red snapper located in Blue Hills and "Somewhere" cafe on the beach for fish fajitas in front of Coral Gardens (which is a beautiful place to snorkel).
If you're looking to save money but still enjoy a bit of resort life, a good idea would be to buy a Club Med day pass. Club Med is not far from the White Cottage, and a day pass costs $50 a person. The day pass includes food, drinks, use of the pool and all water activities (sailing, snorkel trip, etc). It was a great idea for a day, and we definitely recommend trying it.
Overall, we couldn't be happier with our stay at The White Cottage and our visit to Providenciales.
