MARK, I FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO WRITE A REVIEW , BECAUSE MY TRIP COULD NOT HAVE GONE BETTER IN MY DREAMS. I HOOKED UP WITH YOU OVER THE INTERNET AND EVERYTHING YOU SAID TO ME WAS ON POINT. YOU TOLD ME A COULD SEE THE SURF FROM MY FAMILY ROOM , WHICH I COULD. YOU TOLD ME I WAS 50 METERS FROM PUMPING SURF, WHICH I WAS. YOU TOLD ME I DIDNT NEED A CAR , WHICH I DIDN'T ( BIG MONEY SAVER ). MARK COVERED EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. WE MET A GREAT LOCAL GUY , WHICH MARK HOOKED US UP WITH , NAMED ZACK. HE TOOK CARE OF US THE ENTIRE 10 DAY STAY AT HACIENDA IGUANA . ZACK BROUGHT ALL THE FOOD TO OUR CONDO AND HAD THE BEST COOK IN THE WORLD , JULITA, PREPARE BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER. I MUST SAY, THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE. WHEN WE NEEDED MORE BEER OR A CELL PHONE TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH WORK WE JUST CALLED ZACK AND HE TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. ZACK EVEN TOOK ONE US TO THE CLINIC TO GET FIXED. I HAVE BEEN TO COSTA RICA 9 TIMES IN THE LAST 15 YEARS AND I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS THE BEST SURF TRIP I HAVE EVERY TAKEN TO CENTRAL AMERICA. THE PEOPLE ARE VERY NICE AND THE STAFF AT HACIENDA IGUANA ARE FIRST CLASS. NO WORRIES OR BEING BROKEN INTO AND HAVING EVERYTHING STOLEN . THIS IS A GREAT PLACE FOR YOU AND A COUPLE OF YOUR BUDDIES TO GO TO SURF GREAT WAVES AND HAVE A COUPLE OF COLD BEERS AND WAKE UP AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. LIKE THEY SAY, THE WIND IS OFFSHORE ALMOST ALL DAY EVERY DAY. ONCE AGAIN, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MARK WHITE FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID TO MAKE OUR TRIP THE PERFECT SURF GETAWAY. I JUST NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET BACK TO THAT AWESOME PLACE " HACIENDA IGUANA" .

Just a short note to thank you for the unbelievable experience that we had in Nicaragua. The condo far exceeded our expectations in every way imaginable. Everything about the Condo was perfect for our group of surfers. Even the wives and girlfriends were stoked. We had great surf every single day. How awesome it was to walk out the back door to warm water, offshore winds and perfect waves barreling all day long. Can’t wait for our next trip to Nicaragua.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time here, you couldn't have asked for a more luxurious place on the beach! Easy to check the waves each morning by peeking out the window. Daily maid service was a joy, as was booking the rental with the owner. Truth be told, the warmth and hospitality of both the owner (through multiple emails and his insuring that everything was well) and the staff at Hacienda was unbeatable. Can't wait to return! Thank you again for such a great vacation! We scored so many waves on this trip right out the back door and didn't have to go anywhere. Your place is truly amazing and made us all feel at home (as well did the people of Hacienda Iguana). The local guide took great care of us and made sure we had an awesome time. This town is better then any we have been to in Centro America. We will be back for sure for another amazing surf trip. Thanks again!

Just got back from a surf holiday that included 3 nights at the surf condo. We surfed twice a day, once at Colorado and once at Panga Drops, a completely different break a 10 minute walk up the beach. The condo is spacious and beautiful. The ipod docking station and the blender were nice to have. This was a relaxing few days - discovered that there's a masseuse that does house-calls for $45/hour and the pizza and wings at the local pub are decent!

Just keep in mind that the pool is about 100 yards away - at the beach, not right at the condo.

My husband, 14 year old son and myself just returned from a week long vacation. This is definitely the best place to stay! The condo is very roomy and comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay. We had great views of the ocean and waves from the living room and master suite. We loved being so close to the ocean and wonderful pool. We also had the opportunity to play golf. The owner of the condo is extremely responsive and provided us with all of the information we needed for our trip. He also set up us with a local Nicaraguan who arranged a fishing/snorkeling boat trip as well as had him come to the condo and fix us the most amazing lobster dinner.

This is definitely the place to stay!

If you want to stay in Playa Iguana, then this is the place to stay. Just got back from an 11 day Nicaragua trip with the wife and 4 kids. Many of the condo's on the property may look like they are walking distance to the beach, but they are a very long walk (golf course condos). This Condo is as close as you can get to Playa Colorados. The owner is very accomodating and was very responsive (quickly) to all of our needs. He provides you with driving driections, advice, etc.
I would highly recommend this particular condo to any and all that are interested in going to Playa Iguana and surfing some of the best waves in the world.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Playa Colorado
Condo from june 20 - 28, 2009 with my son Dylan
who is 14 and a aspiring young ripper. I have
traveled extensively surfing at many good breaks
around the world. We had an exceptionally good
time at this location. The condo was very nicely
furnished, with a fully equiped kitchen and tiled
bathrooms. The location was perfect because it was
on the ground floor on the best corner of the
building for viewing the break from the living room
or master suite. Maid service was daily. Even
though we were in a condo it was still very private
and the community security was tight. Of all of the
potential places to stay at Hacienda Iguana or
Nicaragua I couldn't have picked a more ideal
location for comfort or convenience. There is also a
pool and covered cabana on the beach to chill and
watch the action out front on the break.

The real attraction for me however were the 2
quality breaks we surfed. Playa Colorado just in
front of the condo is a consistent high quality A
frame river mouth beach break with awesome
barreling rights and lefts. The break is powerful but
fun. We made a point of hitting it at day break and
before dark and were rewarded with mirror glass
and a mostly empty lineup. As the day progressed
so did the number of surfers however there were so
many waves coming through we got our fair share.
The vibe in and out of the water was really good
between the traveling surfers, local Nicas and expat
US full time residents. We made allot of new friends
and ran into a few old ones. Most days were glassy
with offshore winds. The Lake Nicaragua offshore
wind effect is a huge plus. Unlike Costa Rica where
most days are limited to the dawn patrol and
evening glass off and blown out mid day, we
experienced off shore winds all day most every day.

Further down the beach a 5 minute walk north was
another deep water outside rock reef break called
Panga Drops. It reminded me of a mellower version
of Sunset Beach. We caught it several days with 10
to 12 foot faces. It has a big wall perfect for carving
high speed turns. The left breaks into a bay with
100 yard plus long rides and an easy paddle back
out. The right while potentially equally long can be
a brutal paddle back out if you get the 1st wave of
the set and get caught inside. Like Sunset Beach it
will go flat for a while and then the sets start
coming through leaving
