I first came to the San Juan Mountains 13 years ago, lured by the promise of legendary powder skiing, endless miles of sweet singletrack, and a college education. I settled in Durango and was not disappointed. I still live in Durango with my wolf-shepherd mix Skyler and kayak, bike, ski, and hike in the mountains all the time. I spent the last two and a half years personally renovating this historic Victorian house into the perfect pad for adventures in the mountains or just hanging out with a bunch of friends. Many good times have been had there already and many more to come!
After skiing, biking, and hiking in the mountains around Silverton for years, I decided I needed my own base camp in Silverton even though I only live an hour away in Durango. Silverton is a peaceful mountain burg and the ultimate adventure playground, with soaring peaks, raging rivers, and unbelievable vistas from almost anywhere in town. Little has changed since Silverton was a mining boom town 100 years ago—most of the quaint Victorian houses and shops still line the wide unpaved streets. Silverton still has the feel of the Wild West of yesteryear but with a modern-day adventurous social atmosphere.
Backcountry and Nordic skiing right out the front door, while a mere block's walk to restaurants, bars, and shops!
