Well, I guess we are not guests either but renters but what a place to rent! We arrived here after a week of wilderness canoeing "real camping" to find comfortable beds, down comforter, lots of hot water, showers, and even a dish washer! Five stars in our book! Now were settled into puzzles, sunning on the dock, picking blueberries, collecting mussels and not much else. It's a beautiful place to chill.
Noodles, our schnoodle, is so happy. It turns out he's part mountain goat and revels from hopping from rock to rock at low or high tide. Yesterday he decided to walk across the wood pile. The two cabin system is perfect for us- three still asleep (at 11:00 AM) one making banana pancakes and one over in the chair where he has been for the last three days. (it's always good to find your spot!)
It's a wonderful place, were having a great time
Sarah, Dave, Maurie, Toby, Abby, Joey

Here's a list of the best things (in no particular order)
1. Snake eating a frog (front walk)
2. Rolling pin and pastry cutter- obviously pie makers stocked the kitchen
3. Shooting stars every night
4. Mussels!
5. Bull Cook and authentic historical recipes book. The best book ever
6. E.B. While books also best books ever.
7. Riding the "tide ride". (this would be sitting on the dock at low tide and the wild ride up to high tide level- kind of like a canoe ride for the dog, which we liken to "just like a car ride but really really slow") Thrilling none the less.
8. Down comforters in the master bedroom. So five star.
9. Walking across the ocean at low tide
10. Stars reflected in the ocean, the milky way, and Jupiter.
11. Big boats in harbor

A fabulous last minute get away before our first child is born in September (a girl). Thank you for accepting partial week guests! What a fantastic place in a one of a kind location. We hope to come back again in the future and share this place with friends and our daughter.

This was our first trip to Maine and we found a true gem. The setting is picturesque, quiet and exactly why we chose Maine for our family vacation this year. Our boys ages 14 and 10 enjoyed running the paths to the dock, exploring the beaches, tidal pools and the rental kayaks. No video games for a week and one forgot he was a teenager. The house gives you a warm welcoming feeling the moment you enter...like you are visiting your grandmother's treasured vacation home rather than some non descript rental that is there simply as someone's investment property. We were greeted by a nice bottle of wine from the rental agents. Mom enjoyed shopping in SW Harbor for groceries. The bedding is comfortable and the kitchen is equipped for real meal preparation. We had to force ourselves to leave and explore the rest of Mt. Deset Island and really did not find anyplace prettier than Grey Havens. The rental company folks were very nice and understanding when our final check got lost in the mail and did not arrive on time.

We recently returned from a week at Grey Havens. We loved the setting. It was very private and quiet. The noise of the tide rushing in and out of the cove was wonderful. The house is rustic yet tasteful. It was a great base camp for all of Mt. Desert and Acadia. Great restaurants are nearby (20 minutes). We hope to return.

Wow, our week here passed in a flash! I love the view off the porch! Our first morning here, I walked out onto the porch to be greeted by a bald eagle perched on a pine tree 30 feet away and sitting at eye level. It was huge. It stayed for about 20 seconds considering me and then flipped away! Wow! Then I saw a seal cavorting just off the shore a few yards to the right of our dock. A few days later we spotted seals surfacing on the crystal smooth bay several times.

What a beautiful spot!! We have heard the loos cry. Zack and Steve went fishing from the dock, caught seaweed but they aren't giving up. Watched the tide go out and explored the beach and rocks and crossed to the other side. Zach found a live crab- he let it go of course. They found mussels and now wait to find an okay spot to collect them for dinner. They are searching the internet for info on safe spots. Mark and Fabiola are doing a lot of cooking. Yum I am the chopper with a different partner for each foray into civilization. I've done two drawings so far. Hope to do a lot more. Ray is teaching us about how to eat cheese properly while we wait for the haddock and potatoes and corn to cook. Last night we had pasta primavera. Layla, though a dog, is like a pig in mud. She is delerious with the freedom the smells and sounds. She is asleep under the table right now.

What a lovely place this is- beautiful sunsets, peace and quite. We really enjoyed our stat here. Myrdle the dog was in heaven scampering around on the beach and climbing rocks. We all enjoyed fresh off the boat lobster from Bartlett's Landing. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Puzzles, games, lobster, haddock, sunsets, beach combing, stars, blueberry pie, clam chowder. The way life should be!

Grey Haves = Slice of Heaven. We have spent the week hiking Bernard, Beech, Cedar Swamp and Pemetic Mountains. Each one special in its own way. The "Polar Bear" club gathered each afternoon for a dip... even Uncle Steve is an Honorary Member! Seafood Ketch, ice cream, lobster dinner, beer, wine, Bar Harbor, puzzles, beer, wine, boating, thunder storm, fog and the best "family time' money can buy!!!! Can't wait to do it again!
