You know the old saying of "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually isn't"? Well, that does so NOT apply to this cottage! And we've stayed at lots of different places in Florida and this is by far our favorite place. From the start all transactions went smoothly with welcoming and informative communication from the owners. We stayed at the cottage during Fourth of July and had a wonderful week. The house itself is absolutely adorable, with everything one could possibly want during a vacation; perfect sized bedrooms, an airy livingroom, a cozy dining nook where one could watch the going ons of the street, clean bathrooms and practical laundry room. The backyard contains a smallish pool with heavenly warm water for when the sun goes down. Neighborhood sounds like children having fun in pools, a piano tinkling somewhere, and light music coming sometimes from the restaurant around the corner just add to the holiday feel of the place. Any small problems that did arise (like cable problems) were instantly fixed by our next door neighbor. Everything is close by on this island; Publix is just minutes away by car and even though it can get really crowded on weekends, the staff are extremely helpful and answer tourist questions willingly. The post office is in the opposite direction and there also we received help in getting our huge parcel of goods shipped home. The mini golf place in the historic area is fun but try to get there early in the day before it gets busy and hot. If you really need to get out of the Florida heat, the closest cinema complex is Regal Cinemas about 10 minutes drive away across the bridge. For dolphin sightings, unfortunately we can't recommend the Lil Toot Dolphin Tours. The captain spoke only when asked specific questions and we were ready to get off after 15 minutes (but we did see a couple of dolphins and three manatees). And last but not least - the beach really is only steps away! We spent every morning and late afternoon at "our" beach four minutes walk from the cottage and so had no need to go farther afield to the larger areas. But we recommend going to north end of the island as well. All in all, we couldn't have found a more perfect place to stay in all of Florida. Loved the cottage, loved the island and will definitely be back for more!
