Beautiful Well-Maintained Grounds and House

My husband, my parents, and I stayed in the main house on this property from 2/17/12 - 2/22/12. My husband and I stayed in the guest house last year. The grounds around both are beautifully and tastefully landscaped. The view of the channel to Maui and Lanai were incredible. Both times we sat on the porch or deck and watched the whales. All the other houses I looked at renting on the east end were either on the road or on the ocean side. Both these houses sit in behind a large lot, on the hillside. This gives them an elevation with the incredible view and keeps noise to a minimum. I was very glad that I had spent a few more dollars and gotten so much more. The guest house has a small pool, the main house a smaller pool, both adequate to cool down after a nice walk. The property is on the east end which is greener than the west and more rural. Both houses are impeccably decorated. I kept noticing small touches that added beauty throughout. The main house has two bedrooms each with an attached bathroom. There is a large, high main room between. The guest bedroom is down a hall, and up a few stairs. This arrangement gives two couples more than adequate privacy. The deck stretches the length of the house with large glass sliding doors the whole way. Wherever you go in the main room or master bedroom the view follows. The guest bedroom has windows with an equal view. The kitchen and dining area had everything you could possibly want to cook with. The guest house is smaller and more intimate. The 2 bedrooms are off the main room. The kitchen here too had all you needed to cook. The view from the porch was better than any of the photos could capture. My husband and I rented a pickup truck the first year, and an SUV this year. The right of way to the house can get muddy so you need a vehicle which has a good clearance from the ground. We explored Molokai from this base. The Molokai Fish and Dive was wonderful in setting up several activities for us. We hiked in the Halawa valley, down (and up) to the Kalapaupa penninsula, and the 3 mile long beach on the west end. We went on whale watching boat trips and visited the small beach down the road from the property. We went to the farmers' market on Saturday morning. If you are looking for fancy restaurants, night life, and crowded beaches, Molokai will not be right for you. If you are looking for peace, quiet, beauty, and a release from stress, I highly recommend staying at this property. God willing, we will be back.
