"La Cigale" is a spacious, luxurious country house set in 7.5 hectares of beautiful, natural parkland within the Luberon Natural Park ideally situated within walking distance (1 km) of the village of Lacoste and its famous château dating back to the XI century.
The newly restored, expansive house set out on one level enjoys high-beamed ceilings, stone floors, and breathtaking views over the Luberon hills. On arrival, the automatic wrought iron gates open into natural parkland with stately mature trees and a long driveway to the front of the house.
The house is surrounded by a delightful, natural garden with south facing terrace, stone fountain, “borie”, “boule” court, and a peaceful, secluded pool, representing a haven of peace for those who wish to unwind, paint, read or go for long walks through the unspoilt countryside. Table and chairs on both the subtly lit terrace and by the “borie” provide perfect settings for relaxed evening meals.
The house has a delightful salon with a natural stone fireplace separating it from the elegant dining room. Both the salon and dining room are tastefully furnished in a mixture of Provencal and regency styles, and with original artworks adorning the walls. The entertainment system offers British television, DVD and CD. The dining room leads through to the library, with a selection of books, to a wrought iron spiral staircase that leads up to a delightful mezzanine that provides a quiet space for reading.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with Smeg appliances; including oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and refrigerator, and a Gaggia coffee maker. All work surfaces are in marble, including a centre island, and there is plenty of crockery, glassware and cutlery. A wrought iron table and chairs is ideal for breakfast use in the cooler months.
The three elegant bedrooms each have double beds, and all open onto the stone terrace. The master bedroom has extensive views over the Luberon hills, and has direct en suite access to the main bathroom of the house, offering antique roll top bath and twin washbasins. The second bedroom opens onto the garden, and has direct en suite access to a second bathroom boasting an in-ground Italian shower, whilst the third bedroom provides direct access to the beautiful pool. All bedrooms have Provencal style wardrobes and dressers, bedside tables and lamps.
A small study provides the facilities for work if needed, while the house is fully equipped with a wireless network and high speed internet access (for own laptop connection), as well as telephone and fax facilities. The house is perfectly located to explore the many attractions of this spectacular region, including other nearby hilltop villages within the Luberon Natural Park such as Gordes and Roussillon, and towns such as Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, and St. Remy de Provence.
