Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area: The Bungalow is located in Wallace, ID only 12 miles west of the Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation area.
Lookout Pass is the original Idaho ski area having documented skiing and a home made rope tow in 1935. The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho. These ski adventurers would hop off the railcars at the summit and utilize a highway storage shed as a warming hut that they nicknamed “Buzzards Roost”.
Lookout Pass has operated every winter season since 1935 and has a reputation for legendary powder, earliest openings, and longest season in the region. The number that really matters is an average snowfall of 400' of light Northern Rockies snow.
Silver Mountain is 11 miles west and offers the world's longest gondola. Winter skiing and summer mountain biking.
Route of the Hiawatha: Stay in Wallace and ride the trail.
This portion of the Olympian Hiawatha route has been called one of the most breathtaking scenic stretches of railroad in the country. The Hiawatha Trail is typically open daily from around May 24 thru October 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PDT.
Winding through 10 tunnels and 7 high trestles, this 15-mile route crosses the rugged Bitterroot Mountains between Idaho and Montana. The Route of the Hiawatha is best known for the long, dark St. Paul Pass, or Taft Tunnel, which burrows for 1.66 miles under the Idaho/Montana state line.

Owner's Story-I am a remodeling contractor. My wife, The Professor, brought me out west here looking for a second house. A week later we bought this house. It is now a polished gem, a relaxing getaway for us once every summer and a ski home for part of each winter.
To rent, contact Tomi Lyle, property Manager. Owners are Geoff and Alice O'Meara. When we first looked at the house,Silver Mountain had announced it's expansion. The local real estate agent had never seen the interior. When she showed the property to us she said, 'you can't have it! I want it!'
