We'll be back!

Coming from Bergen County we used to think that the Jersey shore was special. the Island House in Ogunquit Maine made us forget all about that. We've celebrated the past two Thanksgivings here with my son and his family joining us from nearby Vermont. The house sits on the edge of the Atlantic, surrounded by rocky, beautiful coastline. The views are spectacular from every room, including the wrap-around porch. And the bedroom walls and ceilings are painted in airy pastel blues, trimmed with white, that seem to merge with you and the ocean outside and the sky and clouds. It's an amazing feeling. Restaurants and shops are minutes away walking. Great breakfasts at Amore Cafe, and to-die-for lobster rolls at Barnacle Billy's overlooking the fishing boats docked in the cove. We exercised every day hiking along the Marginal Way, a wonderful mile-long paved path right on the rocky shoreline that leads to the center of Ogunquit with neat bakeries and candy stores and beach area. We will be back!
