Perfect stay

I stayed in this homeaway rental for three nights with my husband and small child. It was a perfect space for us to spend some time away from home for a short vacation. The property had everything we needed, and we had a very comfortable stay. The owners were very easy to work with and provided great information on the area. The upstairs is a great area for kids to sleep and play. For restaurants we loved The Water St. Grill (ate there twice), but wouldn't recommend Spring St Pizza or Chopsticks. We walked around the Williams campus, did some local hiking, and visited the Clark museum and the MASSMoCa. The street itself, and the other homes on the street, are not very charming, but we loved the stone cottage! The decor was perfect and the property was clean and well organized. We would love to see some "before" pictures prior to the renovation! We would definitely consider returning, and would recommend the rental to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in the Berkshires.

Nice, warm, home-away-from-home!

Why stay in a hotel when you can enjoy all the comforts of home? This cottage with character is stocked with everything you need for a short stay or a longer vacation, including wine and cookies, what a nice touch. We found it to be neat, clean, and the beds super comfortable! The owner is prompt with communications, and great to work with. It's just a block off the Williams campus, and a short drive to restaurants & groceries. MassMoca in North Adams is only a few miles away.

Restaurant recommendations - Water Street Grill is nice for late nights, several craft beers on tap, favorite appetizer is the mussels in Guiness (outstanding!). Mezze is the fancy place to go, with a very interesting menu of locally sourced food. Enjoyed the raclette which I almost never see on a menu. Coyote Flaco is good Mexican food, very friendly service. Leah's Diner around the corner was not open Saturday mornings, we hope to catch it next time. Chef's Hat is a great breakfast though, only a few miles north on 7.

Great Family Stay!

The Stone Cottage in Williamstown was perfect for our family's Thanksgiving holiday. Peter and Maureen have done a beautiful job restoring this New England gem. The space upstairs was perfect for my three little nieces, while the two downstairs bedrooms offered a relaxing space for parents. The kitchen was fully equipped with all that the guests needed. We will definitely stay here again.

Centrally located, it was easy to visit museums, shops, and the Williamstown outskirts. This house is perfect for couples, friends, or families. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

My friends and I spent a long weekend in this adorable cottage. We loved everything about it! It was clean, cozy and comfortable. The owners were attentive and helpful and the house was precisely as described. If you are considering a rental in this area, you've found it.

Williams College Football Parents

We rented this house several times over Williams football weekends and it was great! Far nicer than staying in a hotel and gave us a place to hang out after the game and socialize without having to go to the Purple Pub. House is super clean, simple but very well-decorated and extremely well-appointed. The owners do a great job making guests feel welcome (wine and treats upon arrival) all the basics including coffee, oil, Splenda, laundry detergent, even extra tooth brushes. The kitchen is relatively small but perfect for a getaway--we have made many a terrific chili dinners there. It is perfect for any Williams family visiting a student at Williams--walkable to the college and Spring Street. The only downside is that there is only one bathroom. But the bathroom is recently redone and very nice.

We were fortunate to find Peter and Maureen's lovely stone cottage available when another VRBO rental proved to be totally unacceptable. The kitchen and bath have been totally renovated very tastefully, and the bed linens are lovely and clean. The cottage was spotless, and a welcome sight. We spent two nights with another couple in very comfortable quarters.

Rented this house to attend the Fresh Grass Festival at Mass Moca in North Adams. It had everything we needed, charm, great kitchen, quiet neighborhood and close to the festival and all kinds of great hikes.

We enjoyed the house very much. Were able to ride bikes to many local destinations and drive to hiking spots and shops. Williamstown is a lovely community. Our landlords/hosts had provided very nice linens and towels and a welcome gift. Everything worked out for a relaxing family getaway. I would recommend it.

Perfect for us

We used Williamstown as our base for exploring the Berkshires, including museums, Tanglewood, theater, and cycling. The cottage worked perfectly for us: a quiet location but walkable to the center of town, compact but very comfortable accommodations, large back yard for hanging out or grilling. Owners were great to work with.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your generous comments! We hope to see you back again soon - Maybe during the spectacular Fall Foliage season, or ski season?

I was lucky enough to spend a winter weekend at the cottage with three other writers for a "writing retreat." What an absolutely lovely place! It was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The owners have an incredible eye for detail--we were constantly surprised by wonderful little unexpected touches (like the fleece throws in the living room!). I hope to come back soon.
